"Upcoming Network TV shows that look like garbage"

First up, Downward Dog:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3_bDWTTLWc

This is the trailer for Downward Dog, a show headed to ABC later this year. Based on a popular web series (funny I never heard of this shit), this is a dramedy about a talking dog.

The show, which ABC Entertainment Group president Channing Dungey calls "very special", combines the cutting-edge comedy of Beverly Hills Chihuahua with Fargo's Allison Tolman, who both deserves and knows better.

Next up, Imaginary Mary:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15vywGIjvPk

I honestly cannot believe this exists.

Starring Jenna Elfman, some totally kick-ass guitars, and a stained, fur-colored throw pillow voiced by Rachel Dratch, Imaginary Mary seems poised to revolutionize the television comedy landscape by providing users with a totally laugh-free experience.

Here is the official description, via the ABC YouTube channel:

Alice (Jenna Elfman) has her life turned upside-down when she ‘stupidly’ falls for the love of her life Ben (Stephen Schneider)— an adorable, quick-witted divorced father with three kids. But when she ignores her fears of commitment and her ability to mother, Imaginary Mary, her childhood invention (voiced by Rachel Dratch), comes back to life to express Alice’s deepest fears and add more chaos to the situation.

Yikes.

And finally, an adaptation of The Exorcist:

Shit looks hilarious for all the wrong reasons.

Man, it makes you thank the heavens for quality cable. It also makes me wonder why I'm not running a network if this is what's, out of all the shows pitched and pilots produced, this is the best out of all those shits.

I'm sure there's probably a couple others but that's the only one that jumped out at me as a potential breakout hit.

NBC doesn't have much that I think I will watch but they're shows at least look like they could be interesting and look like competently made shows. I'm waiting to see a trailer for Tarsem's Emerald City.

But stuff like:

American Housewife looks awful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9JRoZsnINw

MacGyver looks dumb: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gt8E6X6-744

It would take a genius to sell me on Pure Genius: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fx-5-t4Njlc

People are high on "Bull"; I think they must be high: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/fien-print/cbs-new-show-trailers-a-895583

i'm not sure what the usual turnover is for new shows but I wouldn't be stunned if only three or four shows from this batch made it to a second season.

That looks like something that could be very funny in 1 - 4 minute clips but it definitely doesn't look like they figured out how to flesh it out into a full half hour. Let alone, 15 - 22 half hours.

And I think the main reason I am intrigued by timeless because I always toyed with the premise that all of human history can be explained as this epic battle between good guys and bad guys going back and time and trying to fix it (with a lot of historical figures being secret agents sent back to "fix" time).

Maybe I am giving timeless too much credit, but yeah.

I brought this up before but it just seems like Networks are just ceding quality tv to the cable networks and Netflix.

I could see comic book fans not being interested in an office comedy that name drops superheroes while I could see sit-com fans not finding the world relatable.

And it doesn't look that funny. (Not sure how many times you can rely on big things falling on cars/people for laughs.)
