I oriiginally wanted to catch it for the first time at a really nice movie house, like the Grand Lake in Oakland, but it sold out quick. So I'm going to settle for a regular old multiplex the first time. I'll catch it at the Grand Lake during the week.

I wasn't impressed.
It seems like a "normal" theatre to me. The front rows are way too close to the screen , unlike Hollywood where most of the theaters have a front row that's *perfect* for viewing. You don't see anyone in the crowd, just the entire screen - maybe a little close and missing some of the sides but it fill your entire field of view up.
And the sound system didn't seem great.
And parking at UTC around Xmas is a nightmare
Did I just have a bad experience ? Have you been to the non-dome theaters in the Hollywood Arclight?

I have been to the one in Pasadena twice. The service is phenomenal to go with the experience. The closest one to me right now is in Vista(1 hr away) so I havent gone in a while. But me and the wife have been talking about making a trip soon.
