For the life of me I can't understand why this series doesn't get any shine I was glad to see Macy nominated last night, his character is one of the best (worst?) scumbags ever
but other than that...crickets. I'm guessing it's the "city white trash" angle that turns people off or whatever. I'm just glad it hasn't got showtimed and the writing keeps going strong.
Character development, comedy, coming of age, family drama, love stories, fall from grace, this show has it all and manages to explore these themes without OD'ing on cliches and tropes (except for the Jimmy/Steve comeback, but nothing's perfect).
This season started off strong as usual. They're gonna go into gentrification and as something we talk about here a lot, I'm looking forward to how they handle it.
More than Fiona, Lip is the anchor that holds the Gallaghers down, and he's on the edge of a cliff right now.
Thought Veronica was the freak with her webcam shows, but then Sheila just...wow

Forgetting the biology part, he did the right thing. But something tells me there's still gonna be hell to pay. Either Debbie is gonna run off her mouth and the wrong person is gonna hear it, or dude is gonna be wracked with guilt and try to make amends, which is gonna backfire.
The minute Frank made a come up at the alibi, I knew he was doomed. Now he's homeless (but it's Frank, no big deal).

I love Lips character development and storyline the last few seasons i just keep cheering for him to win...someone in this family needs to win and out of anyone Lip and the baby deserve it. I like the nerdy girl who keeps trying to piss off her family, shes oddly sexy to me lol

this is my first season with it. I can see why people were so into it when it started, I definitely had a Rossum crush after Phantom of the Opera but wasn't into the whole TV piracy thing at the time or had the means to move it from computer to TV. but she says this has been a VERY disappointing season, it's funny and she still likes all the characters (her primary television is reality TV, not drama, so likable for her is relative lol) but she thinks it's been exceptionally bland for the most part compared to the past few seasons.
I just wish Netflix had a Showtime deal so I could run it back and see if she's right because I've liked this season pretty fine.

but i watched this series all out of order. i think i started on season 3 and went back, so it's hard for me to remember what happened when.

Carl used to be immature but kinda funny. Now he's just a straight up asshole.
Debbie used to be so cute and innocent and now she's just annoying and weird.
Fiona used to be conflicted and frustrating but ultimately her heart was in the right place, family first. Now she's just a heartless slut with very few redeeming qualities.
I guess I still like Frank too. His story has been kinda tired for a while now but at least he's always humorous.
Really the most frustrating is my 180 on Fiona though. I used to love her endlessly and now I loathe her character.

I actually don't even really hate Sammi I don't think. She's kind of obnoxious but to be honest it was kinda nice to be introduced to a new twist on the family.

She had the chance to back out of the (clearly wrong-for-her) real human relationship when Jimmy came back around, but she chose the steady guy, which lead me to believe she may be finally turning a corner. But nope, took like a day for her to revert back to old habits. And since she is "same old Fiona" anyway, I would've much preferred they just kept Jimmy around. Their dynamic is far more interesting than what she has with this boss dude.
Which reminds me, I think it was kind of a waste to bring Jimmy back at the end of last season in the first place, considering how they ended up wrapping his storyline this year, and how quickly they did it. Shoulda just left him for dead after season 3, I think.
So maybe I *do* have some issue with the writing afterall. Haha.

Frank has had moments of clarity before. He'll be back to being Frank in no time.

Fiona really needs to stop fucking around and take control of the house again. The fact that she's left them all hanging all this time, even after the cocaine thing with Liam and going to jail is what makes the least sense to me. They were her world once and now she just stops by every now and then. Nobody even addresses it either. Seems to be less a part of the plot and more a sub product of giving her more romantic drama storylines.
Lip had a good thing with that Asian girl...he's tripping throwing that away for the professor. Why not keep both? Neither of them would care.

It really seemed like that was the direction the whole story was going. And maybe it still will. I agree that he may have been broken by being in deep for someone (Monica) who didn't have the capability to love him back, so he's just kinda fallen deeper and deeper into addiction and uselessness. Bianca (the minor similarities in their names are not lost on me) was the first time he appeared to have fallen again and it definitely seemed to spark a change in him. So yea, this whole theory is definitely possible.
