First Episode just had them being assholes just to be assholes and kind of getting rewarded for it. Hannah's shitty speach to her parents, Marnie somewhat getting the dude, etc. Jessa's morale deflating speech to Hannah, etc.

Second Episode with Hannah getting put in her place though, golden (along with show MVP Elijah running with the ball the second half)

I just think that the show can't make it's mind if these are loathsome people who deserve a comuppance or youthful niavette they will eventually grow out of to become decent people. The problem with the second idea is that they are all old enough to know better so when they act out of pocket, like Jessa shitting on Hannah's grad school career, its hard to come around to them again.

Karpovsky is the only tolerable character in this show. He seems to be the only "wise" character - Wise, in that, he uses logic and intelligence. and I guess you could say the same for Adam.

.....But man, Ray stays fucking up, messing around with broads that are only going to complicate his choices... but maybe thats the archetype of his character, the self-destructive intellectual.

Ray like most people is looking for physical affection. He just happens to be surrounded by a bunch of self-absorbed douches. It looks like Sosh is gonna come barking up his tree again. In the first season his character was still trying to get his ish together from a professional standpoint and now it looks like he's trying to get his ish together from a personal standpoint. I'm pretty sick of Marnie and that sociopath she's hooking up with is a creep of the highest (lowest) order.

On a separate note, Jessa's bubble? Ooowee.

I like Hannah actually displaying her intelligence, insightfulness and being smart as oppose to us suppose to assume it's true because she says so. Otherwise I hate watching a midtwenty something act like a spoiled 5 year old.

Brian Williams daughter seemed like a human being and not a monster for a change.

Also enjoyed Adam piercing the veil on the Jenna show and calling her out for what she is. I was ready to roll my eyes if they hooked up but this turn was way more interesting.

I can't wait for the Real World Smack Down that we are promised for Mamet's daughter.

I'm gonna miss it.

Hannah: Wow, she really grew this season - although I'm still disappointed in how she handled her return you can't say she didn't show REAL growth - I'm kinda proud of her.

Shosh: I'm not really sure how I feel about her. She has a shot at being an actual human being. This job (if she actually takes is and I'm not sure she will) will be SO good for her personal development, not to mention her career. Still ain't convinced she's gonna pull the trigger tho.

Ray: All the wins - expect one. With luck, he won't get sucked TOO far into the vortex that is Marnie. Or, hey, maybe she'll grow, that being said. I really don't have a lot of hope for either of them. At least he's actually persuing his passions tho.

Adam: Staganant. Last season he grew a lot, this season, not so much. With hope, this was his rebuilding season.

Jessa: I REALLY liked her and as batshit crazy as she is. I think she's on the right track.

Hannah's Parents: OMG - what a shit show. I hope to god they figure their shit out soon.

And yes, that's my defense of Adam. He was a young, rapey idiot, and while he's still an idiot, he's not prone to being rapey now, which counts as progress.

And this doesn't mean that he's fully grown. He's still got a lot of shit he has to go through and sort out, which is why I think Hannah's decision to reject him was great. Had they gotten back together, not only do you waste an entire season of Hannah's growth, but Adam's as well, because you just end up in the same place (relationship-wise as well as creatively) with the both of them.

As far as his "past transgressions" go, if the characters on the show have no problem forgiving his disturbing early antics, then I have to as well, since I'm as interested in that character as I am the others. That's really a tribute to Adam Driver, who has gotten better and better with each passing season of the show. Here's hoping they don't write him out... even if he has Star Wars commitments...

I personally wouldn't mind seeing Adam and Jessa link up. Seems like they're right for each other.
