First Episode just had them being assholes just to be assholes and kind of getting rewarded for it. Hannah's shitty speach to her parents, Marnie somewhat getting the dude, etc. Jessa's morale deflating speech to Hannah, etc.
Second Episode with Hannah getting put in her place though, golden (along with show MVP Elijah running with the ball the second half)
I just think that the show can't make it's mind if these are loathsome people who deserve a comuppance or youthful niavette they will eventually grow out of to become decent people. The problem with the second idea is that they are all old enough to know better so when they act out of pocket, like Jessa shitting on Hannah's grad school career, its hard to come around to them again.
