Cary Grant in North by Northwest was James Bond before James Bond.
It is one of the first great action movies, there are exciting set pieces which happen in the film which are so influential on cinema and for many directors.
Are you a fan of Hitchcock? What other movies of his do you like?
If you loved Cary Grant and Eve Marie Saint then I suggest you watch a film called Charade which has Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn. Sizzling chemistry and a lot of fun. It's probably my favourite all time film, I can watch it and never be bored.

Man Who Knew Too Much was gonna be next but ill hit Notorious on your rec
And i will def check out Charade. It wasnt too long ago that i saw Breakfast at Tiffany's and i was disappointed in the way she overpowered the dude playing Paul. I know thats part of the theme, but still. She needed someone on her level.

Shadow of a Doubt - This is one of my favorites, Joseph Cotten is amazing The 39 steps - this is a fun adventure thriller Notorious Rope Strangers on a Train Rear Window To Catch a Thief - Cary Grant and Grace Kelly chemistry is awesome here Vertigo North by NW Psycho Birds Marnie - Great opening shot The man who knew too much - see both hitchcocks british original and his american remake
you know, of those i have only seen frenzy. trouble with harry always seemed like it was cheesy to me, it could be good.
Frenzy has an amazing tracking shot of a murder. I'm sure if you google frenzy tracking shot you would find it. but Frenzy just isn't a really good movie to me.
Rope is great mainly because of its gimmick of basically being 1 consecutive shot.

i found it fun. it probably benefited from my not watching any of his movies for a few years after i watched the popular classics in my teens and early 20s until they started to get not so good to me and i stopped.
family plot had a similarly wackiness i liked.

i thought it was rad, although part of the appeal was how gritty and "modern" it was from hitch at that age and that late in his career.
none of these is considered a top tier film from him so i had low expectations going in, but i recommend them all to people who have seen the popular movies he made.

Saw it for the first time at Screen on the Green in Piedmont Park, ATL, 15 years ago and it blew me away from the opening credits on. Made me a lifelong Cary Grant supporter.
Also, how about James Mason?! Had only seen him in 20,000 Leagues (another favorite) before this and he's so great.
This had to have been a touchstone for the creators of Mad Men in terms of style too (note that Grant plays an ad exec).
Recently saw 3 Days of the Condor which is this kind of movie through the lens of 70's cinema/gritty New York - it's a good one too, worth checking out.
