I get that Hollywood still considers her a draw but Diaz is not a good choice for that role. Granted, filling Carol Burnett's shoes is pretty damn tough but you're right that McCarthy would have killed that role.

I hated Jamie Foxx, yet it was just a positive fun little romp that you never get to see starring people of color whose race isn't a plot point. I dunno. I know I'm being soft on it, but I just was on board from start to finish. The only scene I actively hated was Foxx's solo piece which is fucking horribly out of place.
Cameron Diaz was bad in dialogue, but to me, her presence during the two musical pieces she has featured moments in were better than anyone else in the film. Also, that Byrne/Q track in the apartment I thought played well too.
It's weird, I have read a lot of negative reviews and I agree with most of them, but I just really enjoyed it, warts and all.
I'm not talking about "I'm T-Pain/Lemme buy you a drank!" Auto-Tune. I'm talking about "Glee"/"Rock of Ages" "these kids can't sing; we've gotta fix this somehow" Auto-Tune (probably technically Melodyne).

In that case yea. You can tell post work has been done.
