wasn't really aware of this project but I gotta say the first trailer has me all in. Director is the same guy who did Animal Kingdom, so you know the movie's gonna have that 'tensity. Guy Pearce should be great, and it looks like another smart pick for R Pattz after Cosmopolis
synopsis: A loner tracks the gang who stole his car from a desolate town in the Australian outback with the forced assistance of a wounded guy left behind in the wake of the theft

the finished product? Nah...i'm glad I went during the matinee.
Guy was great...i just didn't feel the finished product gave him much to do...
and shit, I'm so over Hollywood trying to make Robert Pattinson "a star". Dude really can't act. No matter how many, smaller, grittier, "edgier" films he does, dude has limited talent.

why didn't they just give him back his car in the first fucking place. I mean the truck was still running obviously. What did they have to lose by trading vehicles?

1. They were already in it. 2. It was a nicer car, without blood on the inside presumably. 3. They were in a hurry to get out of there, and this asshole has the nerve to follow them and threaten them. 4. They'd fled the scene in the truck, so switching cars seemed to make sense. 5. Having a newer car in this post-collapse world seems advantageous for a number of reasons. 6. They straight up didn't feel like it.
They already killed people that day during the robbery. They have guns, and he doesn't. Why let this jabroni without a gun hellbent on slowing them down when they're fleeing a murder scene get to drive away with the nicer car with them stuck in the dingy bloody getaway vehicle?
The "just switch cars" scenario didn't even cross my mind while watching it, really.

>1. They were already in it.
Them niggas got the fuck out of the car when Guy chased them down.
>2. It was a nicer car, without blood on the inside presumably.
Nigga was still bleeding when they switched cars, so they would've gotten blood inside the new joint anyways
> >3. They were in a hurry to get out of there, and this asshole >has the nerve to follow them and threaten them.
They were long gone from the scene of the crime when they had their brief exchange.
>4. They'd fled the scene in the truck, so switching cars >seemed to make sense.
Seeing as society has reverted back to the Wild West, and the environment is so sparse and desolate, I doubt there's a solid police force actively looking for those niggas.
>5. Having a newer car in this post-collapse world seems >advantageous for a number of reasons.
Since the terrain is rough, having the truck would be a better advantage.
>6. They straight up didn't feel like it.
They really had nothing to lose by just switching with the homie so no.

That shit was not dingy. As a matter of fact the reason why Guy and Rob ditched it later was they ran out of gas.
> >The "just switch cars" scenario didn't even cross my mind >while watching it, really.
Really? Cause it crossed everyone's mind in the audience who saw it. Those reasons are weak my nigga and seem like copped pleas.

Pattinson keeps getting better and better-- he's terrific here, career-best work as a Lennie from Of Mice and Men type. Pearce is reliably great, especially when he gets to dig into his own Aussie accent.
This movie was constantly surprising. Not in huge ways-- although there is one soundtrack cue that blew me away and made me think the theater was somehow pranking me. Little character choices, line deliveries, times when I thought Michod would cut and he lingered and stretched out the tension.
People who want a lot of action and shoot-out stuff-- this isn't your movie (although the shoot outs are terrifically tense). This is a simple story, told and acted very well.
I'm a sucker for moody post-apocalyptic flicks and while this one didn't quite catch the heights I was hoping for, it still achieved a lot while remaining subtle. Pearce was very good, Pattinson impressed me more here than in Cosmopolis Best score/soundtrack I've heard this year, but then again I love that droney stuff
