"Devil's Due (Gillett, 2014)"

I saw it so you don't have to.

not terrible, but not good.

it's a massive lead in to not much happening at the end.

same lead in unintentionally "we saw this so you don't have to"

I'm rethinking the "not terrible" while I still think its biggest crime is just being entirely unnecessary... it's THE LONGEST 90 MINUTE MOVIE OF ALL TIME

RIGHT?!

over on the Get Out The Room podcast, I said I want to see what she writes next because it's clear she *CAN* write. I just want to know what the studio chopped out of her original script because watching it, you could tell there was more to HER script than what ended up as this piece of shit final version.

So, I'm rooting for her next effort.

Oh yea, and she's married to the creator of NBC's Dracula, a show that *SHOULD* be good...but isn't. AT ALL.

I'm looking forward to what he does next, because he can write also...Dracula just, ultimately, wasn't a win for him....

Damn near a beat for beat remake of 'Rosemary's Baby'...primary differences were the handheld aesthetic and the father as the protagonist. There's plenty to gripe about (nothing original, broken POVs, wooden lead, plot holes, etc.); but at the end of the day, I thought it was fun (mood was tense, a couple of cool setpieces, and disturbing imagery). Nobody needs to run to theaters to see it, but if you're bored and see it on Netflix, it might be worth a watch.

i'm a fan of theirs to, but this was an L for them.

a beat for beat remake of Rosemary's Baby? I don't know about this. It's clear they were influenced by the movie, but a beat for beat? I don't know...

Sidenote: I'm curious to see what NBC does with ITS remake of Rosemary's Baby, the miniseries with Zoe Saldana starring in the lead role.....

but this wasn't a good film at all.

>i'm a fan of theirs to, but this was an L for them.

Don't disagree...it was their first feature and they made a ton of mistakes -- most of them at the script level -- but like I said before, they're still great at creating mood and it did have some nice setpieces. It's a Netflix streaming kind of joint, but as a fan of RS, I could still find some good in it.

>a beat for beat remake of Rosemary's Baby? I don't know about

SPOILERS

You're absolutely right. Saying 'beat for beat' was too strong, but I still feel like RB was more than just a simple 'influence'. It almost felt like a re-imagining or adaptation of it. They shared a lot of plot points -- satanic cult looking to bring forth the devil's spawn, death/illness of those who try to interfere, creepy doctor slithering in and becoming primary caregiver, consumption of raw meat, cult coming in and taking the baby away, etc...you get what I'm saying.

That'll be interesting. I'll watch, but my expectations are low. Apparently, Zoe is getting a pixie cut, a la Mia Farrow, in preparation lol.
