Breaking Bad‘s home stretch has a premiere date, and is getting a talk show. The final eight episodes of AMC’s acclaimed meth-drama will get underway starting Sunday, Aug. 11, the network announced at its upfront presentation to advertisers on Wednesday. The episodes technically represent the second half of the fifth season of the show. AMC also announced its adding a post-episode chat show, Talking Bad. The network hopes to continue the success that it has enjoyed with its post-Walking Dead talk show, The Talking Dead. No word yet who will host.

This will be a re-watch schedule with spoilers so if you are watching for the first time might want to avoid. I don't want to get caught up in the whole spoiler issue. Try to keep discussions focussed on these episodes but spoilers are allowed. The dates are mondays where the weeks begin. If we want to keep it organized I will be happy to try.
if that Talking Bad show will replace the official podcast the show did in the past. Gotta imagine it will since the show runners have limited time. Guess having the show televised will better than a strictly audio podcast, but I'm going to miss having the podcast to kill time while at work.

First time we actually get a look at Jesse's psyche, and it's kind of dark. Him sitting in the room looking at his old drawings and toys was heartbreaking. Especially watching the toys go from pretty innocent fare until you get to the headless army guy. And then the drawings let you know exactly when he hit puberty/rebelled/probably discovered drugs.
That and the look on his face when his brother said "yopu're all they ever talk about."
I wonder what his little brother is doing these days and if we'll ever see him again.

44. "Episode 5 Gray Matter" In response to Reply # 43
An old friend of Walt offers him a job to help pay for the chemotherapy, and when Walt turns it down, outright offers to pay all of Walt's medical bills, an offer which Walt also refuses. When Walter tells Skyler about this, she doesn't respond well. Jesse attempts to cook meth on his own but cannot replicate the quality of Walt's product, while Walter Jr. gets in trouble when a cop catches him trying to buy beer. Meanwhile, his family gathers at his house for his intervention to try and persuade him to take the therapy. Walter responds by stating that he wishes to not do the chemotherapy. After being with his thoughts, he reconsiders and tells Skyler that he will do the treatment, and despite being offered funding by Gretchen, his friend's wife, he returns to Jesse's house. Upon seeing each other again, he quips; "Wanna cook?"

How is that possible?
The entire talking pillow is this show at its best. Dark, hilarious, depressing and gripping. Also, now that I'm viewing Walt through asshole lenses, even his speech at the end doesn't seem quite as genuine as it did (even though it is entirely genuine IMO.)

45. "Episode 6 Crazy Handful of Nothin" In response to Reply # 43
Walt and Jesse come to an agreement: Walt will cook the meth while Jesse is the one who sells it on the streets. Skyler asks Walt about his missing hours and he explains that he just wants to be alone sometimes. Walt almost faints while cooking meth and Jesse discovers that the real reason why he is cooking meth is that he has lung cancer and is trying to help his family. Meanwhile, Hank ties the respirator the police found back to the high school chemistry lab and eventually arrests a janitor who has a criminal record. When Jesse sells the initial batch of meth and it only yields $2,600, Walt demands that Jesse find a new distributor as his share won't possibly pay for his mounting medical bills. Jesse eventually gets connected to Tuco, the drug dealer that replaced Krazy-8. However, when Jesse goes to make a deal, Tuco refuses to pay up front and severely beats Jesse and robs him of the meth. Walt returns and causes an explosion in Tuco's hideout using fulminate of mercury. Tuco then decides to deal with Walt.
46. "Episode 7 A No Rough Stuff Type Deal" In response to Reply # 43
Walt and Jesse face difficulties producing the large amount of meth promised to Tuco. Skyler confronts Marie about her shoplifting after being detained at the jewelry store where Marie stole an expensive tiara that she gave to Skyler for her baby shower. Walt and Jesse use thermite to break into a warehouse, where they steal a large barrel of methylamine, which is necessary for a new recipe that can produce much more meth in a shorter period of time. They deliver the promised amount of meth to Tuco, but during the transaction, one of Tuco's associates makes a seemingly innocuous comment, prompting Tuco to beat him until he is bloody and unconscious.

Having completed their deal with Tuco in the junkyard, Walt and Jesse realize just how crazy and violent he can be. Jesse is convinced that he has seen Tuco's black SUV going up and down his street. Walt puts it down to paranoia—until he sees a black SUV parked just down the block from his house. Jesse's solution is to shoot Tuco before he kills them, but Walt has a better idea using ricin. Panic sets in, however, when they think Tuco is killing his associates. Hank reviews the security surveillance footage of the warehouse break-in without realizing it's Walt and Jesse. Skyler tells Hank about Marie's shoplifting, and learns she is getting therapy for kleptomania. Tuco kidnaps Jesse and Walt.

Having been kidnapped by a crazed Tuco, Walt and Jesse are held prisoner by him in a desert shack where he often hides out and takes care of his sick uncle. Walt's brother-in-law Hank and the DEA have rolled Tuco's entire organization, and Tuco thinks that one of his associates may have been a source of information. Walt unsuccessfully tries to feed Tuco the poison he prepared. Hank, meanwhile, takes a bit of time off to look for Walt. Skyler is sick with worry and has been distributing handbills with Walt's photo. Hank remembers that Jesse Pinkman was Walt's source of marijuana and tries to track him down. Tuco's mute wheelchair-bound uncle alerts him to the fact that his prisoners are up to something, and it looks like he's going to kill Jesse. Hank shows up looking for Jesse, and is confronted by Tuco. A brief firefight ensues and Hank shoots Tuco dead.
54. "Episode 3 "Bit By a Dead Bee"" In response to Reply # 51
Having gotten away from Tuco, Walt and Jesse now have to get home and explain where they have been. Walt has a plan and they split up. He goes to a supermarket and takes off all of his clothes while walking around the aisles. He is hospitalized and claims to have no memory of where he has been for the last few days. Jesse returns to his house to clean out the basement and get rid of the RV. When the DEA track him down, he claims that he has been shacked up with a prostitute for the weekend. The police don't believe him and think they know how to nail him: they bring in Tuco's uncle to identify him. But the "old school" ex-con refuses to cooperate with the authorities. With some of his problems now behind him, Walt is keen to start cooking again.

If you're not fully caught up with the series, then definitely don't read it as there are obvious spoilers. Or if you want to stay completely blind with what unfolds and don't want any hints, I would say stay away too.

To be certain, Steven Soderbergh has had no shortage of ideas and opinions when it comes to the state of the current movie industry. And after putting himself out there with his now famous speech at the San Francisco International Film Festival, the director hasn't been shy in answering followup questions, and he continues to share his thoughts on what the movies and television are doing right...and wrong. His latest brainstorm concerns a show that this summer might be an even bigger blockbuster event than anything hitting the multiplex. That's right, we're talking about the final season of "Breaking Bad."
The show, which left off on a helluva cliffhanger last year, will finally let us know the fate of Walter White with eight episodes starting on August 11th on AMC. And Soderbergh thinks it would be really cool if the final two were given the big screen treatment, instead of only going down in your living room. “I thought it would be really cool to have the final two episodes of the show as a movie that aired the Friday after the penultimate episode," he told Empire. "You'd sell that during the season – ‘See the season finale in theatres!’ – and just run it for a week, but I feel like you’d clean up. It’s never been done before.”
"It’s (in cinemas for) one week, then you can download it” he said, elaborating on his pitch, “but for the fans to have a communal viewing experience that week, that’d be super-cool.”
And you know what? It would be. We'd be all for heading into packed theater to share what finally happens with Walter White with a bunch of devoted fans. It would certainly be something pretty special... AMC, are you listening?

A bar not far from my house plays the major TV shows as they air, and Breaking Bad is one of them. The dynamic changes too much and there is a certain etiquette that happens when watching in a large crowd. I personally think it's less fun than just watching it at home, with friends or family.

Interesting time to release the DVDs since the show won't be returning until August and networks typically release DVDs close to the return dates for the shows. I suppose AMC is aware people are going to watch theh remaining episodes regardless, so it doesn't matter too deeply when the DVDs drop. According to a scan from the back of the DVDs I saw on Amazon, all the episodes have commentaries.
The saga of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman will come to a conclusion this fall when AMC airs the finale of "Breaking Bad." But fans in the L.A. area will get an extra special opportunity to bid farewell to New Mexico's most notorious pair of meth dealers with a special screening at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
Series star Aaron Paul, who plays Pinkman, announced on Wednesday that a special screening of the finale episode on Sept. 29 (the same night the episode airs on TV) would take place at the historic cemetery located on Santa Monica Boulevard.
On Twitter he wrote, "Who's coming with me?"

"Breaking Bad" isn't the only thing to screen at the cemetery; in fact, it's become a popular destination for film fans with the Cinespia screening series, which projects films there regularly on weekends.
But though everything from "Scream" to "Caddyshack" screens at the cemetery, one has to wonder if the setting seems to foreshadow a dire end for Walter White (Bryan Cranston) at the end of the series. Obviously, no one is talking on that score.
The final eight episodes of "Breaking Bad" begin Aug. 11, preceded by a marathon of the first eight episodes from the season.

so frustrating, I'd burned through all the episodes through season 3 for third and fourth times and was planning to just skip season 4 since I'd rewatched it before last fall and rewatch season 5 today leading up to the premier. But now I can't use Netflix because m old card doesn't exist and my new one technically doesn't either.
