"Alex Cross (Cohen, 2012)"

Wow...just wow...

They need to re-title this how to destroy a franchise.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXtRKrcPwKE

Morgan Freeman killed this role in the previous two films. I understand they wanted a younger Alex Cross. Was Idris Elba, Anthony Mackie, Derek Luke, Rob Brown, ANYONE not available? Seriously Tyler fucking Perry? Matthew Fox as a murderous psychopath? Rob Cohen as director? Dubstep on the soundtrack? I read a few of Patterson's Alex Cross novels. I don't recall the character being an action hero.

Are Cicely Tyson, Edward Burns, and John C. McGinley this desprate for work?

Way to flush a popular, well respected black protagonist down the fucking flusher...

I'm rooting hard for this shit to flop yo...

The producers are fucking idiots seeing as how Perry's popularity has been on a steady decline over the years. And David Twohy, who's an okay director is ten times better than Rob fucking Cohen. I guess they failed to watch The Skulls or The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

One, he is mostly a comedic actor.

Two, women like him, but not for the aggressive masculinity you need to portray and action hero. They like him because he wears a dress and relates to their mama.

I'm more curious about why Tyler Perry would even want to do this.

The past is my foundation, not my preoccupation.

I would have thought that if I had never read the books, but Freeman was miscast from jump. They wasn't about to put some nigga in the lead role dickin down a white broad, so they made his ass conveniently older to remove any implication.

as a loyalist of the book series i'll prolly check for it.from the previews it seems like a departure from the book, which annoys me in general about movies, but worth a look. motherfuckers need to not hate it solely because its tyler though, that shit is ignorant.

"Double Cross." Not joking.

I saw the line for a preview screening in DC an hour and a half beforehand extending all the way out of the theater. One of the longer screening lines I've seen.

And I think it'll get there. I'd be surprised if it dipped any lower than 13.

It's a 23 mil budget. It'll probably come close to doubling that in domestic box office alone.

And they ARE planning the sequel. That was already announced this week, lol.

http://blogs.ajc.com/the-buzz/2012/10/22/tyler-perrys-alex-cross-not-killing-at-the-box-office/

“‘Alex Cross’ is Perry’s lowest-grossing opener as an actor; it is the second-lowest debut of his career, after ‘Tyler Perry’s Daddy’s Little Girls,’ which he wrote, directed and produced,” reported E Online.

Citing Friday-Sunday stats compiled by studios and Exhibitor Relations, E reported that “Paranormal Activity 4″ led the weekend box office with a $30.2 million haul. Ben Affleck’s superb “Argo,” based on the true story of how Americans escaped Iran after the siege on the Tehran embassy, was next with a $16.6 million weekend. (Here’s a link to our recent interview with Affleck).

Then came ”Hotel Transylvania” ($13.5 million), “Taken 2″ ($13.4 million) and then “Alex Cross,” at $11.8 million.

The reviews for “Alex Cross” haven’t been great.

Let me say the basic plot of this movie is illogical.

Matthew Fox plays an assassin that leaves clues at the scene to his next victim on his hit list! I could understand if he was a random serial killer who was targeting random victims. However he is a paid assassin. Who would hire an assassin who leaves clues to his identity!?

Tyler Perry is also a problem. He just doesn't have facial expressions and the right emoting ability to carry this character.

This movie is an all over mess, but isn't as big a disaster as I thought it would be. It's just generically bad.

I haven't watched yet, but having seen the trailers, I was excited by the prospect of both Tyler Perry and Matthew Fox putting in good performances.

That is, until I followed up with the reviews. That sucks.
