yea habibi is not at all like those titles i listed above. it is a thought provoking and tear jerking amalgamation of religion, poverty, opulence, slavery, industrialization, friendship, love, science, mysticism, yin yang and straight up beautiful artwork. i heart that book.
>Daniel Clowes -> Ghost world is obviously the most famous, >but equally great and funny and accessible, I think, are Ice >Haven and Wilson.
saw the movie bc i was going through a cristina ricci phase. have seen the books around, may peep.
> >Chris Ware -> Jimmy Corrigan... kind of pathetic. I laughed, >but felt bad.
LOL wtf i dont even know what this means
> >Alison Bechdel -> Fun Home... a lesbian coming of age (in a >funeral home) story.
this sounds dope.
> >David Small -> Stitches... painful to read, but wonderful. >
this does too.
>and if you're sleeping on the noir side of things, next time >you're out look for books in the Criminal series by Ed >Bruabker and Sean Phillips. Maybe not something you would have >thought would interest you, but man. Those are great stories.
i picked up a few issues of criminal (and one of the spinoffs i think?) off of a COTW and i dont recall particularly but i THINK i was meh.
