"FYI: I peep how ARTSY FARTSIES never give BRAD PITT his due"

This anti-straight white american male shit is
COMPLETELY out of hand....this some potent shit
I'm about to spit, so if you soft, just log off fam

Pitt better than a lot of these british sissy ass niggas
that y'all love.

He been killing roles left and right for a MINUTE

His '12 Monkeys' performance is better than any sci-fi
shit you seen...LOL @ Sam Rockwell in Moon...nigga just
looked like he had morning breath that whole movie

Pitt just mobbed out in this 'Moneyball' shit, on some
genuinely frustrated shit

LOL @ y'all liking Edward Norton's performance in
'Fight Club' better

The truth is -- y'all only like White American actors if
they look like they enjoy penis. Y'all tolerate black and
brown American straight men......not white ones, though.....
don't get it

Its true, and a damn shame

Pitt be on some bread and butter dude shit

He drink beer, raise his kids, lifts actual weights

He don't be on that sissy ass Colin Ferrell shit

He really don't give a fuck about nobody...nigga just
live his life....Ferrell stay talking about how much
pussy he get to the press....insecure sissy ass Clooney
with his models....none of them niggas can pull like
Brad...Brad just be chillin...and everybody know Clooney
is gay and don't really fuck none of them broads...and
y'all give Clooney a PASS for all his FLOPS

I'm peepin how y'all gave Russell Crowe a pass for punching
niggas at the Golden Globes...nigga STILL gets the "eclectic"
pass from y'all...he's a low class SCUM...like his
movies, but he's not artistic at all..imagine if Pitt was
sucker punching niggas at the Golden Globes? He'd be
DONE

Pitt, on the other hand, be chillin in New Orleans with his
colored KIDS, growing a beard and eating Catfish

Not gay enough for y'all

Its 'CISM against STRAIGHT WHITE AMERICAN MALES...I'll stick
up for them.....solidarity

Pitt's performance was engaging and good, is

heads always try to look at me sideways when I say Pitt is top 5 modern actor. and unlike some of the favorites on this board he DOESN'T play a variation of the same character in ALL his roles. here is a quick rundown for the haters:

Se7en
12 Monkeys
Fight Club
Snatch
Ocean's Movies
Troy
The Assassination of Jesse James
The Curious Case of Benjamen Button
Burn After Reading
Inglorious Basterds
Tree of Life
and now Money Ball

heads be mad cause your girl will fuck him on the spot and say sorry to you AFTER, and he'd put you in a head lock and laugh at you if you tried to get tough.

Brad is the fucn man

I never hear her get much respect as an actor, and granted she hasn't been doing much great lately, but her early run was awesome. Yet I always hear her referred to as just another pretty face.

Otherwise I tend to agree. We have very few "movie stars" left, and he unquestionably is one of them.

I think Mr. and Mrs. Smith is grossly underrated. Two real movie stars with real chemistry and a witty script. Very old school.

he embodied the physicality of his role in Troy and made you feel his rage when he put Hector's ass in the ground, but unlike most I enjoyed Troy a lot even though much of the actors where weak and the writing was leaving things to be desired

as for Inglorious his exaggerated good ol' boy was fantastic. even heads who aint into movies like that talk about how much they loved Pitt in that role, "Gorelamee" lol.

so we'll agree to disagree

as for Mr. & Mrs. Smith, we eye to eye, i left it off knowing that this board shitted all over it. When it dropped i was disappointed but catching it on FX a couple times recently i enjoyed he and Jolie in it. their chemistry was undeniable and it was just on some sexy fun shit

As if he was less interested in embodying a character than commenting as the actor on who that character was through his performance. Wasn't a fan.

Though it's such a director's film, getting overshadowed here isn't at all shocking.

Haven't seen Moneyball, but I hear he does a good job there too.

... your point about "heterosexual American actors" is right on the nose. I've posted about this countless times before-- there aren't really any actors that you believe could go live on a riverboat or survive in the woods or beat the shit out of a stranger if he looked at em funny (from America, at least). Brad Pitt is by far and away the closest big name contender for that crown.

And he got exponentially better as an actor the older and more masculine he got. I never really cared for Pitt much in the Thelma and Louise days when he was on that pretty boy shit. He's still pretty, but now he gives off a vibe of smoking cigars while drinking scotch on a front porch while thinking about how he could fuck anyone he wanted to. That's some cool shit.

that embodied "manliness," and could believably pull off menace as well as depth of emotion- Brando, Dean, Deniro, Pacino (and I mean early, thousand-yard stare Al, not Yelling Al), Eastwood, Burt Reynolds, McQueen, even Hoffman to an extent.

Now, there's a bit of a drain on that- Pitt can certainly do it, I'd venture Clooney is convincing, JGL in the right role could pull it off, but the majority of other "leading men"- DiCap, Maguire, LaBeouf, etc.- lack in that area, and the other badasses are British or Canadian (Craig, Owen, Babygoose)

Where is today's Humphrey Bogart? That's what I always wonder-- the guy who objectively really isn't very good-looking, but attains leading man status and even sex symbol status through sheer talent and coolness.

And Schwartzmann is one good, non-high school kid/Wes Anderson Flick role away from that.

In response to Reply # 48

The biggest difference between now and then is that the guys who might be able to fill tough guy roles don't choose those movies. Major motion pictures are now effects heavy so the best actors go to smaller films that offer better, fuller roles. If you go mainstream, you end up hated on like Nic Cage (or, to a lesser extent, Wahlberg).
But if studios owned actors like they did back in the day, guys like Depp, Gosling, Penn, Renner, Michael Pitt, Ben Foster, DiCaprio, and Downey Jr. would be in action movies instead of art house flicks.

so the list isn't going to be that long anyways. if we expand to just tough american guys, well then we're talking about the rock and vin diesel. does anyone expect them to get the same respect by artsy fartsy types? no. do they deserve the same respect? probably not.

also no one has provided evidence that the hollywood establishment is holding down tough american guys. this is just a lot of rhetoric.

I mean, saying Hamm shouldn't have needed Mad Men is like saying Bruce Willis shouldn't have needed Moonlighting. It's the way the business works.

And Hamm was cast as a recurring character in a number of shows before finally landing Mad Men. It wasn't like he was waiting tables for years until Mad Men.

man stop...

Pitt is good, NOT GREAT.

he's REAL inconsistent...BEFORE he became a "STARRAH", he was putting up consistently great performances: Se7en, Snatch, Thelma and Louise, etc.

once he started getting those 15-20million dollar checks, he started sleepwalking through shit.

the LAST significant performance of note he's given in the last decade was THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES (talk about an ARTSY FARTSY movie), BABEL and MR. AND MRS. SMITH and the quality of his performances in these films were all over the map....

so no artsy fartsies should NOT give him kudos...why? he's inconsistent...

As much as he's cast as a sex symbol, it's a shame that
not as many people recognize him as so much more. His
acting skills are underrated by film-goers (not critics)
and his politics/world-views are surprisingly tight for
a pretty white guy.

Every other guy who was supposed to be the Next Big Thing went off and tried to be anything but the next big action star. Statham's stayed pretty committed to the action genre; even his more actorly role was a heist movie. (Well, there was also Revolver but I blame that on Guy Ritchie.)

Also, whereas The Rock and Vin Diesel made it big and started getting bigger paychecks, Statham has basically stayed at an even level, doesn't make THAT much per flick, so he can constantly work and there aren't huge expectations for his movie.

He's faggy and is LOVED by artsy fartsy and gay
Hollywood. Even Europeans like Johnny Depp.

He does BIGGER BUDGET HOLLYWOOD shit than Brad
and STILL gets to hold on to his artsy card.

Let Brad do a 4 MOVIE SERIES based on an AMUSEMENT
PARK RIDE...he would be BANISHED by artsy gay hollywood

LMAO @ 'Finding Neverland'. That was one of the stupidest
movies EVER. HORRIBLE. All he did was wear funny outfits
and speak in a stupid ass accent. That's literally what
he did.

Its all because stupid gay men and women buy the whole
"dark, disturbed, tormented" actor bullshit ACT. Its an
ACT.

Depp is a REGULAR ASS WHITEBOY who just wears funny hats.

That's literally what he does. There's no depth and he
paints that picture to get roles and pussy.

Pitt don't do none of that.

>just as good looking

Not even in the same galaxy as good looking as
Brad Pitt, yes homo. Women like Depp because he's
"talented" and has "mystique" and all that pretentious
bitch shit....I use it to get pussy too and it works,
because women fall for it every time.

Pitt has NO GIMMICKS. He literally grows a beard,
reads books and raises black children. That's what
he does with his time.

If Depp isn't an actor, he's getting B-level hipter
pussy.

If Pitt isn't an actor, he's still getting grade A
vagina.

No question

every "tortured soul" identify with depps vague weirdness. I do find his acting shallow as fuck, and like you said, he just does the "weird quirky funny accent" thing in every movie. i dont *love* him as an actor but i see why people love his movies. he's definitely not a mans man but to be fair, i think this period in hollywood (gay hollywood as you put it) is a reaction to the invisibleness of different types of archetypes represented ( the super straight man and the super straight woman) all demographics should be represented. but anyway, brad pitt is not touching harrison ford in manly sexiness though
