every character is an annoying caricature with the volume turned DOWN, except the prof, who plays the everyman nicely. they all fall flat.
the scientist dr is fucking annoying and not much of a help to be honest. he's like steve buscemi from Armageddon without any of the humor, charm, or general likeabilityhe's just a pessimist who can't wait to shit on everything to do with the resistance effort. and that would be great, except instead of making him hopeless through the eyes of his own logic and/or pain of loss, he's just a prick.
the prayer chick falls flat with every word she speaks. that other kid, the idiot that went chasing after his dog, he's worse. i hope they both die a grisly death.
the black soldier dude is annoying and habitually makes dangerous snap decisions- this makes two weeks in a row where he makes numb skull, snap decisions regarding his son, etc. i hope he dies, all he does is make dumbass choices for selfish reasons that aren't all that helpful to his kid and certainly not the resistance.
i wish the youngest kid would get blown to smithereens, or better, eaten alive by a pack of skidders. all he does is pout and moan and whine and the idea of making him a fighter and the fact that he gets screen time at all makes me want him dead all the more.
the asian dude is completely useless. i don't hope he dies, but i won't care if he does.
the general is like a retarded version of the guy from remember the titans. a copy of a copy of the guy from the postman. etc. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
mostly, it's the fact that every episode thus far is a mission where one member breaks off and does some rash, spur of the moment shit to ass fuck whatever lame objective they have at the moment. that's my biggest complaint. i can live with the annoying characters if there were some semblance of a story.
instead, we're four episodes in with very little actual progression to the story. the shit about taking the aliens out at the legs, the returned kid, the kidnapped alien, the dr learning how to remove the thing on their back, ALL that shit could have- should have- been covered on opening night. the first two episodes should have established all that shit.
instead we get four episodes that are exactly the same as the episode before it, with different ingredients. a different idiot on a different mission breaking from the team to do some different bullshit to hurt the cause. they have two more episodes to get this shit rolling. i haven't watched out of excitement for two weeks, i've watched hoping shit picks up because the basic premise is great. -Sig-
