Albeit, a low-budget horror film, but hey, I'm not complaining.
In a nutshell, I wrote a half-decent horror flick in the 80's with a couple of friends. Yes, younglings, I was a teenager at the time. We were so confident, we were going to make this thing ourselves, so we wrote it as a shooting script. We even held auditions. Nonetheless, it died a quick death soon after.
Fast forward 26 years later. One of the guys who wrote it is the son of an exec for a small studio, who upon being reminded of the script basically just gave it the go ahead. Just like that, we're on the fast track. As a bonus, the three of us may get Producer credits and will likely get a slice of the backend.
I don't really have a question here since I'm completely dumbfounded by this entire event, but am basically looking for any advice you all have to give, since I haven't been "on the inside" of the industry since, well, the 80's, when I worked as a lackey for multiple production companies.
Side note: The film will remain set in the 80's. Awesome, dude!
Alright then, so dish it up, if you will.
What would you do in this situation?
