I have, on occasion, used a New Yorker subscription card.
I just found a bookmark someone gave me, the plastic kind with the tassle on the end, and there's a cat on it that looks just like my poor dead friend in my avatar, so I started to try to use that, and pretty much gave up in a week. Those tassles are more trouble than they're worth.

It's not a very good system, especially if you're in the middle of reading the bookmark book, which requires an even smaller bookmark book, and so on and so on

The jokes are really endless. In all seriousness, I try to remember the page or chapter. Generally speaking, I'll try to pick up at the start of a chapter so I don't have the "what page was I on?" feeling.

A couple of friends of mine who write/draw comics gave me a bunch of bookmarks once as part of their promotional materials...and even though I have one of those things in each of about four or five books, including the two I'm reading currently, I can't for the life of me remember what the project is called.
