so this agenda is already awful. i'm not particularly a joe rogan fan,, actually i'm not even that familiar with his material, the impression i've gotten from others is that it's decent, but nowhere near groundbreaking (idk why i typed that out, you'll just accuse me of riding for joe rogan, of course). but regardless, i'm glad there's a comic that is actually confrontational when defending the integrity of comedy. most comics are p*ssies, and they'll admit that (i do).

Carlos is a joke-stealer and a hack. That's just how it is. It isn't hate. There was even a radio show that was tossing him some softball questions so that he could defend himself because they liked him and then he went on to explain an idea that they were working on for the show (that he was selling as "original") that he stole.

There's always a touch of hate when a successful comic is sh*tted on, but you also have to realize that not EVERY succesful comic gets sh*tted on. you know why? cause some are original and they come up with great material that is all their own. brian regan and louis c.k. have seen new levels of success every year this past decade and everyone in comedy is proud of/happy for them. That's very telling to me. Comedy is typically a VERY supportive place. But if someone goes against the unwritten rules then they don't have a good reputation. That doesn't just apply to famous comics.

I've seen much worse comics than all the successful guys who get sh*tted on, and you see worse joke-stealing every once in awhile (not often at all though), but it's inexcusable when you're that big to be stealing from little guys. I mean it's one thing when he steals a joke from Bill Cosby and everyone can trace it back to one of the greatest specials ever made, but he typically steals jokes from lesser known comics who have nobody to defend them. Plus he makes their jokes even worse and more predictable, but his stage presence is great, so people laugh.

i don't think anyone's arguing success, cause that would be dumb. i mostly don't care how successful he or any comic is, i just expect a certain level of integrity out of them. mencia hasn't shown that.

the problem actually ISN'T the fact that guys like this have stolen jokes, it's the fact that there's no reconciliation over it. the typical protocol if you know you have a similar bit as someone else is to discuss it with the other comic and sort it out (who did it first? how similar are they exactly? is their another way to word things to avoid this?) or to just drop it if you know for a fact someone else did it first. this is what comics who make honest mistakes do. however, by all accounts these guys don't do that, they get defensive and cop pleas ("i came up with it first" or "it's generic material so we can all do it").

there certainly are some misunderstandings. sometimes you'll think of something without hearing another person's bit first or sometimes you hear that person say it, but you forget that and you later think you thought of it. when you're taking in a lot of comedy each night, it's tough to sort out what you thought of and what you heard from someone else. but once again, they don't sort these things out, which they need to. in the case of mencia or dane, they will have been proven to see the other comic performing said material, which REALLY weakens their case.

as usual, niggas done made up their mind to not like somebody and they fully commit to it.
