which Willis punctuates pretty well.

Cmon. It's Bruce Willis, Tracy Morgan and Stiffler. That flick's gonna be fun, it's gonna do some 'bers, and you gonna be mad.

Unfortunately, I'm also willing to bet we'll have to see plenty of posts about how much that movie bombed.

It hits that Nicholas Sparks/The Notebook vein flawlessly. I forget where I first saw that trailer, but I saw collectively an entire theater's worth of girls turn their heads anxiously to their dates, who all let out a collective groan.

See: The Notebook and A Walk to Remember, which didn't clean up, but made much more than its budget, and is a weepie folks bring up more than either Message in a Bottle or Nights at Rodanthe.

I think Dear John, with its attractive young people, will have a decent couple weeks and make its small budget back-- it will probably do roughly A Walk to Remember numbers.

Then, when the Miley Cyrus/Sparks collabo hits later this year... THAT one will be a real hit.

NOTE: I know Message in a Bottle made more than A Walk To Remember, but didn't it also have a much bigger budget? Also, the people who saw that movie are either dead, dying, or relegated to Lifetime and Oxygen Networks by now.

Yeah, I could see Dear John doing Walk to Remember numbers; 12 million opening and around 40 million. I don't think it has a prayer of hitting Notebook numbers.

Even still, the trailer was painful to get through and I think that, career-wise, it will be about as helpful as walk was for ol' Mandy and Shane.

A) That studios realize he's not going to sell tickets
B) They don't want him out front of it because he'll bad mouth it.
C) Both of the above

Too bad the trailer isn't very good. They should have shown more shit blowing up and fewer unfunny bits of banter.

Not to excuse Cop Out, which I do think is going to suck (but NOPE! HE DIDNT WRITE IT SO THERE!)...but he isn't QT. He doesn't have, "The 7th Film from Kevin Smith" all over his shit. Hell, he doesn't even use the term, "A Kevin Smith Film" as he feels that's degrading to the other people who made the movie...he just uses "Written & Directed by..."

In response to Reply # 0

My guess is that it's going to be a typical Kevin Smith movie; enough laughs for the fanboys, not enough for the average filmgoer.

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/cop_out/

"Desperately unfunny, tone-deaf homage to 80s buddy cop movies from director Kevin Smith - just one of the many who should have known better."

"A variety of scenarios provides ample opportunities for humor, yet most are lazily wasted."

"As rotten and laugh-free as the trailer. Just much, much, much longer."

"A soulless, witless, landfill contraption that Smith once would have mocked mercilessly."

"Smith's directorial style is far too slack for this material, which aims to be an homage to populist '80s classics like 48 Hrs. and Lethal Weapon, but only winds up resembling one of the bargain-bin knockoffs that floundered in those films' wake."

And Ebert: "Many of the gags possibly looked good on paper, but watching Willis and Morgan struggle with them is like watching third graders do Noel Coward, if Noel Coward had been rewritten by Kevin Smith. "

With that said shit could've been funnier. Bruce and Tracey played off each other well and I really liked that their already partners and friends when the film starts. It's nice to Ms. Jones paired up with a black man for once too.
