"What's your favorite Simpsons episode?"

So I haven't watched a new episode in maybe 7 or 8 years, because it's just too depressing. But for a period of time, this show was the GOAT. We all have a favorite ep, what was yours?

Mine? "Homer Bad Man," the episode where Homer was caught accidentally sexually harassing the babysitter. So much greatness.

"'I keep tellin ya, all I grow here is sorghum.'
'Mmmmhmmmm. And where are the hookers?'
'Round back. Ooops.'"

Dennis Franz in "Portrait of an Ass Grabber: The Homer Simpson Story"

The clock during the edited version of Homer's interview on Rock Bottom.

"So/I grabbed/her/sweeeeeet/can"

Rowdy Roddy Peeper.

The Candy Convention.

Classic shit that no comedy can reproduce. What about you?

"Oh, the Hammock District"

And I've tried, but it depresses me. This show was going to go down as the unquestioned GOAT and has let it all go. Even a decent episode now wouldn't have been acceptable during this show's prime. It's too sad to follow now.

yeah that one was good. also the one where homer gets a gun sticks with me. but i cant really pick off the top of my head as a fav.

well ive been watching simpsons for what seems like forever i cant really stop at this point ive been conditioned. they do have episodes that are similar to older episodes and some episodes that they seem to forget to write jokes for and just tell a story but there is some good ones here and there.

And sue me, the rake scene is fucking classic. And the Simpsons singing Gilbert and Sulvian was great randomness. Or random greatness.

One of the faves is the episode when Homer gets high and sings 'Smoke On The Water'.

And the Simpsons: Behind The Laughter episode was just genius.

Quotables:

"Fine...I'll do Teen Wolf 3."

"Everyday I thought about firing Marge. You know, just to shake things up."

And who could forget Jimmy Carter rhyming and breakdancing:

Got a brother named Billy
And his teeth look silly
Break it down now

I always liked the one where Bart was the daredevil, just seeing Homer bounce down the cliff multiple times was pretty funny

Homer on medical marijuana from a few seasons ago was pretty good as well

the part where they put Homer in the ambulance - it moves for 2 seconds straight into a tree and he rolls right back out and down the cliff. I don't think I could ever get bored of seeing that scene.

I've got too many favorites to name just one. That's one of my faves that hasn't been mentioned though.

Mentioned favs:
Hank Scorpio
Bart's New Dad
Stonecutters (wait... has that been mentioned yet?)
Monorail

Ah screw it... just too many.

That food chain sequence was ridiculous. I lost it when the gorilla was hanging from the vine grabbing a the banana and the shark comes out of the water and eats him. I was *dead* after I saw that!

My other favorite part of that episode when homer's mention all these foods and Lisa imagines how they're parts of other foods. So when she thinks of hot dogs, a boot, pigeon, and raccoon come together to form a hot dog.

I think from Season 4 to Season8 was the best five year stretch of ANY show in the history of television. It was the equivalent of Prince from '82 to '87. Nothing can touch that run for the Simpsons. That being said. Here are some of my favorite episodes. In no particular order.

A Streetcar Named Marge (#8F18) 1 Oct 1992
Marge takes a part in the musical version of “A Streetcar Named Desire”, a musical which has a strange resemblance to the Simpsons' own home life.

Marge vs. the Monorail (#9F10) 14 Jan 1993
After getting $3 million from a fine due to Mr. Burn's illegal disposal of nuclear waste, the town decides to spend money on a needless monorail ....built from shoddy materials. Leonard Nimoy guest voices as himself.

Cape Feare (#9F22) 7 Oct 1993
Sideshow Bob is paroled from prison, and he has only one thing in mind for Bart: revenge.

Rosebud (#1F01) 21 Oct 1993
When Mr. Burns was very young, he gave up his teddy bear, Bobo, for a life of riches. Now growing old, he desires for his teddy bear, which Maggie loves dearly.

$pringfield (or, How I learned to stop worrying and love legalized gambling) (#1F08) 16 Dec 1993
When the local economy stalls, everyone, including Marge, votes to legalize gambling on Springfield. Mr. Burns even opens up his own casino, Homer gets to be a blackjack dealer, and Marge is addicted to the slot machines. Robert Goulet and Gerry Cooney guest star.

Deep Space Homer (#1F13) 24 Feb 1994
After seeing their ratings decline, NASA decides to send Joe Average to space. In this case, Joe Average is Homer Simpson. James Taylor, and Buzz Aldrin guest star.

The Boy Who Knew Too Much (#1F19) 5 May 1994
Bart skips class and witnesses a waiter brutally beaten. The Mayor's nephew is blamed, but Bart can clear him -- however it would mean coming clean about skipping class.

Itchy & Scratchy Land (#2F01) 2 Oct 1994
The family's trip to Itchy & Scratchy Land, the violentest place on earth, proves heavenly until the Itchy & Scratchy robots want to put the family there for real.

Homie the Clown (#2F12) 12 Feb 1995
Homer's new job as a Krusty The Klown knock-off lands him in deep waters when mobsters want to give him a pair of cement clown shoes, thinking he's the real thing. Dick Cavett, Joe Mantegna and Johnny Unitas guest star.

Bart vs. Australia (#2F13) 19 Feb 1995
The government of Australia isn't impressed with Bart's prank phone call and demand that he apologies in person.

A Star is Burns (#2F31) 5 Mar 1995
In order to boost the towns' sagging popularly, the people of Springfield holds a Film Festival to attract more tourists. Marge invites Jay The Critic Sherman to guest judge. Jon Lovitz guest stars.

Two Dozen and One Greyhounds (#2F18) 9 Apr 1995
Santa's Little Helper's frisky nature nets the Simpsons a new dog and 25 spanking new puppies. When Burns steals the young greyhounds, Bart and Lisa set out to discover why he wants them.

The PTA Disbands (#2F19) 16 Apr 1995
A few weeks away from school is what Dr. Bart has ordered when he successfully schemes to have the teachers go on strike. But much to Bart's surprise the school reopens and Marge is his new teacher. Meanwhile, Lisa tries to cope with the situation.

I don't know how you motherfuckers can even call yourselves Simpsons fans. Half of you didn't even understand the jokes. Beer banner, seriously? Anyway, I think "Rosebud" is easily my favorite episode. The Ramones cameo was the clincher.

(After The Ramones sing their rendition of "Happy Birthday" to Mr. Burns)
Christopher Ward: Go to hell, you old bastard!
Marky Ramone: Hey, I think they liked us.
Mr. Burns: Have the Rolling Stones killed.
Smithers: But sir, those aren't the...
Mr. Burns: Do as I say!
