"How good are you guys at predicting what happens in movies?"

(Spoilers)

Rules of Attraction - I knew who was writing the love notes/committed suicide before they revealed it.

Inside Man - I knew he was hiding in the wall before they got to that too.

How about you?

let's play ping pong ■

I've never seen the movie, never read the script, not read one tiny shred of news about it, not even seen who all is in the cast. I'm just telling you right now, based on going to a LOT of thrillers, Steve Zahn is the killer.

The fact that they are now advertising a "shocking twist ending" only verifies this hunch for me further.

Of course I was. His wife is in on it too-- they're serial killers who steal the identities of couples and blah blah blah. But it's obvious-- if you cast someone like Steve Zahn in a movie with a twist ending, then he is the killer.

...if a movie is advertising a surprise/shocking ending, doesn't that ruin a large part of the surprise/shock if you know to expect it?

Zahn/Jovovich fight to survive, and so they end up looking like the murderers and get locked up/killed while the real killers get away.

:]

but I guess just Zahn being the killer all along is more easy...

That's why stuff like the Village bugs me, because I'm not even the guy that tries to figure movies out, but even I knew what the twist would probably be from the beginning and spent the whole time thinking "That better not be the twist...that better not be the twist"

If I know going in that there is a twist, I'll be too distracted trying to figure out the twist to even watch the movie.

Otherwise, I'm not really trying to figure out the ending. I don't approach a movie like I would a puzzle.

where we connect every dot and go "A-ha!"

I think we were just supposed to get the impression that time travel is messed up and can go wrong in ways you can never foresee. But maybe I just tell myself that because if I was supposed to connect all the dots, quite simply, I didn't get it.

My girlfriend does it so much it makes it hard to follow the movie. I had to go & watch The Prestige by myself the next day after I saw it with her just so I could watch it w/o having to answer a bunch of questions. But when its something silly like Street Kings I don't mind the speculation & it was pretty easy to figure out.

She predicts movies that I think are completely unpredictable. It's been a challeng to find a movie that she wouldn't know what was coming intuitively. No shit I played Donnie Darko for her thinking that would a good one. Not only did she predict a lot of the movie well in advance but she actually got the plot of the movie first time through.

When we went to see "The Dark Knight" last year, when Gordon was in the transport to take Dent to county, he leaned over to my wife and said, "everybody knows that's one of The Joker's dudes" in the driver's seat. When it turned out to be Gordon, he tried to play it off like he knew. I had already seen it before, so I knew the deal.

And he clowned Terrance Howard's voice the whole damn time we were watching Ironman.

I remember thinking Fight Club was gonna turn into a gay love story halfway through and feeling relieved and confused when Norton/Pitt turned out to be the same guy.

Like I'm still trying to find someone to explain the significance of everything that happened in John From Cincinatti.

Like the posters above, Ma Higgins is the GOAT at this. The exact opposite of Pa Higgs because Pa used to summarize what JUST HAPPENED. Like, a guy would shoot another guy and my pap would look at me and say, "See....that guy didn't like that pther guy".

I'm somewheres in betwixt

why folk still dont GET that is hilarious to me damn near 8 years later

SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THIS MOVIE

The entire 106 minutes PRIOR to Rita/Camilla falling into the blue box was nothing MORE than Betty/Diane's idealized version of a) her life in Hollywood and b) what *REALLY* happened to Camilla, i.e. she had her killed b/c she couldn't be with her, etc.

i mean, really....I laugh at folks who wanted the movie to be so much MORE than that....and then watch them get angry and upset and say that lynch is on some "clusterfuck" type shit when he wasn't...

which is why i think this is one of better films to date...folk CHOOSE to search for intellectually complex meanings in the film, and the shit was JUST.THAT.SIMPLE....
