Because there's people you just hate for pedestrian reasons, like Ed Rooney in "Ferris Bueller..." or people who you hate for underlying shit, like Sgt. Waters in "a Soldier's Story", but then there's people you hate because they're vile, loathsome motherfuckers, like Don Logan in "Sexy Beast".

Glad to see the film found its audience, plus the oscar noms. But hate? The character? Actor? Details. Were you sitting on a fork when you were watching it?

i love the movie, and think anne hathaway was amazing, but kym is just an unlikeable character. she is annoying, and always trying to be at the centre of attention.
anne hathaway certainly gets that across, all while making you pity and sympathize with the character. there are numerous scenes where you can see there's more to kym than what we see on the surface, and that she probably does not like how she is around others, and all it takes is an expression to see this. for example, the first scene where (MILD SPOILER) their little brother is mentioned, before we know what happened to him or that it was her brother, the look on her face is full of genuine sadness and self-loathing.
sorry, i just thought hathaway KILLED in this movie. she makes a character that is on the surface horrendously annoying into somebody we can sympathize with.

It was wack as hell, long, and annoyingly smug and artier then you!
But, there was already so much beef layed down before the wedding, it was like a little intermission break before the deathmatches started again. Greatly paced to give the audience a break, just a bit too long

i agree here too - it's damn near impossible for me to enjoy anything that is purposely trying to prove their hipster/artsy cred, but i gave the wedding stuff a pass here.

so it distracted me for a moment. Like, some of the performances were a little too long(i was eventually expecting some african dude to walk out and start playing the dirigidoo).
Fuck all this other hate and shit... ________________________________________________________________________ He is stupid But he KNOWS that he is stupid And that almost makes him smart Let's listen

the fact that it was so easy to hate Kim, but also, sooooo easy to relate to her for some people. i 100% completely related to her character (despite being a male). she struggled with the pains of being difficult and knowing it. she knew how hard she was for her family to deal with, and how she wanted to be like Rachel was and that her family wanted her to be. but she couldnt. it wasnt in her make-up.
i dont know...i loved the movie. one of my favourite of 08
