"Royal Pains Season One"
Since we seem to have a developing lovefest with the shows on USA (Monk, Psych, In Plain Sight, Burn Notice) I figure this show might develop a small following.
The first episode was a bit long and all over the place, but I liked the comedy aspect. The brother is gold; the "product of Jesus and Patrick Dempsey" line was brilliant. The scene trying to get into Boris' party was funny as hell. They've got some solid dialogue writers. The physicians assistant seems like she could be an excellent comedic foil also. It has a bit of a Psych feel to it, but without the instant chemistry of Shawn and Gus.
I have some medical and especially ER gripes particularly in the manner in which he was fired but I won't get into that unless people really care.

1) Emergency room doctors don't do cardiac caths. Ever. Under any circumstances. They're not trained for it. Ever.
2) He wouldn't need a cardiothoracic surgeon to help him fix either patient.
3) The poisoning and tox stuff was medically sound but not entirely realistic. You'd have to be exposed to a large amount of organophosphates to develop a SLUDGE syndrome. And get the fuck out at him not bringing her to a hospital. Good way to lose your license.
4) The kid with hemophilia who developed a hemothorax. That makes some sense, but you'd have to have a chest tube in to keep the blood draining from the pleural space. And I didn't see one. And he wouldn't begin clotting that quickly. Factor VIII doesn't work like that.
The most realistic thing was maybe him taking saline out of the breast implant. It seemed like a reasonable procedure.
It's mostly just nit-picky shit. Overall I was highly entertained and I might watch it again because I was multi-tasking when I watched on Thursday.
just ruin it for me lol not really i still watch csi ~~~~ When you are born, you cry, and the world rejoices. Live so that when you die, you rejoice, and the world cries. ~~~~ Afro-American haiku: If Elvis Presley / is King / Who is James Brown, / God?(c) Baraka

letting Ben Silverman put on any show that comes out of his ass...which is total CRAP (ha ha joke! )
USA Drama and Comedy Development: run by competent people who KNOW how to create quality shows that a) are well written b) very good c) know their audience (folk LOVE somewhat edgy light dramedies and stalwart law procedurals like Criminal Intent and d) mad an EFFORT to TEST these shows with ACTUAL viewers, etc...

and build an audience this whole yanking show off immediately instead of tweaking the show and actually seeing what works and doesn't is bullshit ~~~~ When you are born, you cry, and the world rejoices. This show's getting better and better with each episode, the last one was pretty good but I'm still wondering about what that shark was for. Something is really sketchy about Boris.
But I have this feeling that it's going to get stale.
Between the MacGuyver medicine (which I'm sure works really well for the masses but falls a bit flat for me, especially when it's vastly wrong... maybe that's how CIA/NSA types feel when watching Burn Notice).
Jill is cool and all, but the actress is the weakest out of their main core and I don't see that working for the love interest on the show.
But I imagine it'll continue to be fun. I'm waiting for the inevitable Evan and Divya hook-up.
