I would say that it's no where near great. It's good enough.
Some of the fight scenes were great (Starscream transforming in mid-flight and taking out the fighter jets was a great scene) but the FX carried the weak script.
For all the shit Bay gets, I think he's one of the best action directors out there. I just think he realizes that and doesn't bother telling good stories.

but just based on the reaction from friends and people here, i'd say this is where you need to make the distinction between entertaining and good/great. i don't think there's any way it's going to be memorable enough to be considered "great," but did it serve its purpose? yeah.
