save a couple scenes and the soundtrack.

I'm peepin on TNT and feel guilty for loving these when they came out, even though I was in high school at the time.

Sorry fam, that shit ranks up there as some of the best cinema to come down the pike in the last decade IMO. Not to mention that it's damn near a whole different movie if you're watching it on TNT (after they edit out all the cussin', violence, and sex).

For brainless, bloody action....yeah Vol. 1 was cool, but Vol. 2 is a more watchable movie. I love the dialogue, and the Michael Madson scene (including Pan Mei flashback) is the sickest.

I actually enjoyed Uma Thurman's role. I thought she did a hell of a job.

The dialogue of her being the bride was really good.

#1 was more straight up gore and slash, but #2 had the background that was missing from the first. They were both necessary and I think they were well done.

Save for about 15 mins of Bill's speech at the end of the movie I liked it a lot.

Although Kill Bill was one movie that was too long, so he broke it up into 2 movies,

i think both were quality offerings of work by Tarantino.

each movie had its own pulse and feel to it.

two different types of movie.

Kill Bill Vol. 1 was a rush

Kill Bill Vol. 2 was slow and uneventful at times.

I think Kill Bill 1 packed a punch (no pun), i thought things going on in it with the fighting, slicings and violence and blood, the animated sequence (which was great), it just came out of nowhere. Some cool action and blood spillings.

kill Bill 2. had kill bill 1 to live up to, and fans of the 1st movie would have probably felt they were left empty handed thinking it would be more of the same in KB 2. But again, you still got the Pai Mei sh*t, which was tight.

Overall, Kill Bill 1 was better, and it felt like not a minute was wasted.

Kill Bill 2 was okay, but could have been condensed into about 50 minutes, and it suffered from what most Tarantino movies suffer from: Tarantino being a slave to his dialogue at the expense of the movie's pace, acting, mood, etc.

<--- we've got bush!

the I saw Lady Snowblood.

Now not so much.

But, on their own they are still brillaint films that are pastiches of some really great film genres: Kung-fu, westerns, and anime.

The writing, the ridiculous amount of fake blood, the fighting scenes, this is just a damn good movie (imo both movies should be looked at as ONE).

---------------------------------------
So it goes.

I know the back-story.

But the final product?

Actors killed off in part 1 are conveniently missing from even the flashbacks of part 2 (maybe they didn't want to pay the actors for two movies?). Little details like the Pussy Wagon fall by the side and point out either plot holes or obvious scene cuts. In light of part 2, random scenes like the little anime flashback look really out of place. Taken as one long movie everything is lopsided because part 1 is action packed and part two...isn't. At all. Basically it'd be a 4 hour movie where the big climax occurs around the end of the second hour. Even Return of the Kings didn't go that far.

I thought so when I first saw it, and I still think so: Kill Bill 1 was Tarantino's guilty-pleasure nerd movie. With Kill Bill two he tried to take it back to the arthouse.

I'd love to see this as one movie. But I think it would take more than combining it. They'd have to shuffle around a lot of the scenes, and put back in some deleted ones. Otherwise it'd be pretty lopsided.

>Actors killed off in part 1 are conveniently missing from even
>the flashbacks of part 2 (maybe they didn't want to pay the
>actors for two movies?).
Well if you really knew anything u'd know that the film was done all at once and decided to be released as 2 separate vols so that the long runtime won't scare ppl away (IE Grindhouse). Also the other characters really didn't need to be in the film b/c they were all minor. The only ones who were in it were the ones that were relevant to the plot. Which probably means that scenes were cut out of the script of left on the editing floor.

Little details like the Pussy Wagon
>fall by the side and point out either plot holes or obvious
>scene cuts.
What plot holes to do speak of? The Pussy wagon is dropped b/c I assume after killing Vernita Green she got a new car. Up until that point she didn't have one and is less likely to steal one when u have no strength and u have keys to a vehicle already.

In light of part 2, random scenes like the little
>anime flashback look really out of place. Taken as one long

Well I assume that since it was decided to be done as 2 seperate volumes that each volume would have it's own tone. If it was done as 1 film guaranteed it'd be edited differently. Tarantino knows how to make films, even if you don't like the content, dialogue or story the technical shit he will always have down.

>I thought so when I first saw it, and I still think so: Kill
>Bill 1 was Tarantino's guilty-pleasure nerd movie. With Kill
>Bill two he tried to take it back to the arthouse.
And this pretty much determines which one you'll like better. The popcorn movie fans who loved the over the top violence couldn't handle the psychological aspects of Vol 2. And the film snobs didn't take well to the video game violence of Vol 1. The ppl who can watch a large scope of films usually liked both.

>I'd love to see this as one movie. But I think it would take
>more than combining it. They'd have to shuffle around a lot of

For a director that plays so well with continuity, the fact that these movies play around with continuity so much but then don't bring the actors from the previous movie for the second one...call it as you see it, I call it a $$$ issue. All the flash back scenes find a way to mostly get around bringing back the earlier characters.

I have seen all of his movies and read plenty of trivia for all of them and just about every one of them has a glaring technical mistake. Usually regarding the continuity. Sometimes, yes, he's making a tribute to shitty 70s films. And then other times it's an straight up botch that doesn't get fixed.

I watch both action movies and 'arthouse' movies. A two movie story with distinct and different tones is fine. But with Kill Bill 1 & 2 I don't feel as though those two tones made for a cohesive whole. I just think that vol. 1 brought a certain energy that vol. 2 didn't follow through on.

cause those movies where fire. Too bad they couldn't have been made by some unknown korean director and you could only catch them as bootlegs or on IFC late night in which case I am guessing you would have thought it was cool to like them.

in that they kind of go together because of their strong similarities but are at the same time distinctly different and can stand alone on their own.

I mean, he filmed them both together, but with the intention of having two distinct movies. 1 being a take on kung-fu, 2 being a take on spagetti westerns.

I personally perfer 2, but 1 is great too.

Everything is ill about those movies. I mean, if you can enjoy the pure assholerly of those movies than what do you even go to the movies for? Those films are pure cinema for the sake of cinema.

Sorry.

Haven't aged well at ALL. Not a lick.

No redeeming qualities.

Like all of his films, the only thing he has going for
them is that its pop-culturally correct to like him, and
that's the only thing about QT that I respect -- he manages
to make artsy fartsy people and pop culture people like the
same dumbass shit. Good for him.

But these movies were bags of poop sickes

Motherfucker, watching Rosario Dawson's titties was
"entertaining" in 'Alexander'.

Doesn't mean the movie should be described as anything
other than dogshit

The Kill Bill films were dogshit

While the whole five-point death thing was cool.

David Carradine going into that comic book monologue was really corny.

Really, really corny.

It was Tarantino ranting, not a diabolical crime lord.

I can buy hitmen talking about trips to Amsterdam. A jewel thief deconstructing a Madonna song? Sure, whatever.

But a crime lord confronting the woman that's trying to murder him, then going on to this long ass interpretation on a superhero? That was some bullshit.

to death

It almost worked for me although I'm sure that wasn't Q's intention.

I mean I really felt like I was being burried alive in that scene so that worked & that was kinda cool.

But I REALLY felt like Bill was trying to talk my damn ears off with all that useless blah blah blah & I was on the verge of being bored to death by the time Kiddo fucked him up. Had she done it several minutes earlier & spared me all that nonsense I might've liked the ending a bit better. It just took WAY too long to get to it.

yeah, the trailer fight was pretty awesome, especially where she didn't even necessarily know if elle died. i guess the way budd went out was fitting, but it's a little disappointing that she didn't get to kill him.

i think it's cool that she used the palm thing, but the fight should have been longer, if not longer than the dialogue. especially where every previous fight with the DiVAS was badass and they only led up to a 5-second fight w/ bill.

... I've changed my mind after repeat viewings. The second one feels so much longer in retrospect-- the dialogue is TOO self-reflexive, and the tempo really drags, as if he really seems to be enjoying it more than we are. Aside from a couple of great sequences (the escape from the coffin, the fight in the trailer), the second one is not that good. The first one has that gruesome beginning in the hospital which is really unpleasant, but once the action picks up, I'll watch it whenever it's on. It's fun.

And they all fit their circumstances pretty well. Maybe a few improvements are needed, but I like what they did. And, I like that the movies have been seen by a lot of people.

Most of the people who like them just say:

"They're fun!! Cmon!!! CHICKS WITH SWORDS!!!"

That is far more retarded than me saying:

- The storyline was 100% bitten, and patched together
dumbassery with billions of gimmicks that didn't hit,
at all.

- The two movie format was cumbersome and clumsy and
made people lose track of what the fuck was going on

- They have aged HORRIBLY. HORRIBLY. TERRIBLY.

I love the movies. Both. I think QT gets too much hate. I really like his movies but he really brought it will Kill Bill.

Does anyone know that Quentin Tarantino is coming out with yet ANOTHER Kill Bill DVD? The new Kill Bill DVD is going to be based entirely on the animated sequence- uncut and made into a full movie called "The Whole Bloody Affair". This has been reported on Quentin's website, although the release date for the new Kill Bill DVD is still up in the air.
