when he was a kid on the show, they set it up like Walt was one of the most important characters ( at least to The Others). They made it seem like he had some type of powers ( maybe psychic or whatever)...

Now it's like nobody really cares what happened to him on OR off the island. The O6 haven't even looked for him. ( I think he went to visit Hurley though, if I remember correctly...)

as far as his psychic or whatever ability goes.

And yeah, he did visit Hurley in the mental hospital shortly after Locke died.

I know the writers admitted they were in a bind up because Malcolm David Kelley grew too fast, so they had to write him out, but now that we have a 3 year time span, they could write him back in, and his size and age might not be a distraction.

Looks like 'Cism to me ( just like Harrold Perrineau implied)...

by saying his age (10-11?) when the show started. They should have just increased his age and then had his pops say the guys in his family go through puberty late but grow fast when it hits.

I think there's an entrie story arc that we never got to see because MDK hit puberty off screen, and the Writers couldn't make MDK's growth fit the timeline of the show.

*shrug*

I really want to know what The Others did when they kidnapped him.

the only way they could do it is to just have him tell the story. There's no way they can use flashbacks, as MDK had grown too much.

I grew 4 inches in one summer and MDK has been gone from the island for 3 years so there is no reason his size can keep him from the show now.

is silly.

Of course I think it's high quality I enjoy the show.

If I consider a show to be low quality I don't watch it.

I'll be honest I don't watch anything I don't like religiously, so maybe I don't understand how rewarding it is to do what you do.

i like how cesar pocketed the gat when ilana came in the door

cesar said the pilot and a womanbroke out with one of the boats, i'm assuming that's frank and sun

does anyone believe what widmore was saying about being the leader in exile? i think ben and widmore are basically cut from the same cloth

that whole walt sequence was very gay

it was pitiful how everyone used locke's logic against him

it's starting to look like ew may have been right about jack being jacob

and maybe sun and jin are adam and eve

but if next week we see a 60 yr old hurley in the present come out of the bushes im gonna cry foul

I was wondering if it was them (Frank & Sun) chasing Locke, Sawyer, Juliet, Faraday & redhead in the canoes a couple episodes ago. But why would they have shot at them?

A few weeks back when the Sawyer and 'em found the canoes, there were two on the beach. Last night, when Locke asked about the canoes, there were still two. So I'm thinking there were three total. Frank and Sun took one. Then Sawyer and 'em took one. Leaving one boat behind for the survivors of Ahjirah plane crash. I think it was those survivors who were shooting at Sawyer and 'em using the gun Ceasar found maybe.

It was worth seeing what Locke's been up to but I think I would have rather seen it in bits in pieces during flashbacks of other shows. I would have like to see more of what's goin' on now that there back on the island.

I guess I've been getting spoiled with the recent faster pace, it's seems like it's been a while since we had one of these episodes that ends like 5 minutes of show time after it started.

http://blog.melanism.com/2009/02/26/lost-season-five-the-life-and-death-of-jeremy-bentham/

What I Liked:

* As much as I gush over Michael Emerson (Ben) and Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond), Terry Quinn is really the best actor on Lost and this episode was essentially his Emmy reel. There are two great kinds of Locke performances Quinn gives: confident Locke and wavering Locke and it’s been awhile since we’ve seen wavering Locke.
* We finally got to hear Charles Widmore’s version of the Linus vs. Widmore battle although neither are being completely honest. (Speaking of that, watch this video)

What I Didn’t Like:

* If it wasn’t for Quinn’s performance and a couple of shocks, this episode could have been filed under the “stuff we already knew”
* I get the feeling that this is the last we’ve seen of Walt which is good because the kid obviously stopped going to his acting lessons but does that mean the ‘Walt is special” questions are never going to be answered.

Lines of the Night:

* “I remember dying” - Locke
* “They’re not The Others to me; they’re my people.” - Charles Widmore
* “…There’s a war coming, John, and if you’re not back on the island when that happens, the wrong side is going to win.” - Widmore to Locke about why he is important
* “Your parents had a sense of humor when they named you.” - Widmore to Locke
* “Maybe you’re just a lonely old man who crashed on an island.” - Jack to Locke regarding Locke’s “specialness”
* “Your father says ‘Hello’” - Locke to Jack
* “He didn’t look dead to me.” - Locke to Jack regarding Christian
* “I’ll miss you John — I really will” - Ben to Locke’s body
* “Do you know him?” “He’s the man who killed me.” -Caesar and Locke regarding Ben

What We Learned:

* Locke is alive!
* Aijira Flight 316 did crash. It landed on the Hydra island (when Jack, Kate and Sawyer were held captive)
* The canoes Locke and company found were from the Hydra Island
* Frank Lapidus and “some woman” took off in one of the canoes
* Moving the island drops the mover in the same spot in Tunisia
* Widmore remembers meeting Locke when he was 17
* Charles Widmore was leader of “The Others” (he doesn’t call them that) for three decades until Ben tricked him into moving the island exiling him
* Three years has passed sicne the Oceanic Six have left the island
* Charles sent the frieghter crew to extract Ben so Locke could protect the island
* Widmore gave Locke the resources to find the Oceanic 6 including Matthew Abaddon
* Sayid (no longer in Ben’s employ now building houses), Hurley (in the institution seeing dead people) and Kate (post-Jack) all said no
* Locke saw Walt, lied to him about Michael’s fate and decided he’d been through enough
* Helen died of a brain aneurysm on April 6, 2006
* At the cemetery, Abaddon is shot and killed
* Locke drove off in a panic but was hit by two cars
* Locke wakes up in the hospital Jack worked at (mid crazy man beard) and he said no as well
* Locke told Jack that his father said hello and described Christian
* Locke in a hotel wrote his suicide note and prepared to hang himself
* Ben busted into the room and stopped him saying that it was important that he lived and that Jack has already booked ticket to Sydney so he must have convinced him.
* Locke told Ben that he needed to go see Eloise Hawking and that Jin was alive and he had promised Jin that he wouldn’t bring Sun back
* Ben strangled Locke to death
* Ben pocketed Jin’s wedding ring
* Back on the Hydra Island, Locke caught Caesar going through Dharma files
* Caesar told him that Hurley and others disappeared off the plane when the bright light flashed
* Caesar took Locke to the room where the injured passengers were being kept and Ben is in there.

Questions:

* How is Locke alive?
* Why did Caesar hide the shotgun?
* What is it about the specific spot in Tunisia?
* So who’s the villain: Benjamin Linus or Charles Widmore (Ben definitely added more weights to his side of the scale)?
* If Widmore remembered meeting John back in 1954 and sent Locke on the walkabout via Matthew Abaddon, how much does Widmore have to do with Ocenanic 815 crashing?
* How did Ben dupe Widmore into moving and being exiled from the island?
* If “The Others” protected the island for 30 years before he was exiled, a) protecting it from whom? and b) who was on the island before them?
* What’s the deal with Caesar? What is he looking for? What is he really doing on the island?
* What’s Ilana’s story? She seems pretty calm for someone who a) crashed on a plane and b) lost her prisoner
* Which woman went off with Lapidus in the canoe? (Probably Sun but shouldn’t she have flashed off the plane like Jack, Kate, Hurley and presumably Sayid?)
* What is so special about Locke?
* Was the moment the Walt dreamt and described to Locke (Locke on the island in a suit surrounded by people who want to hurt him) the moment on the beach at the beginning of the episode or a moment we haven’t seen yet?
* Is the Hydra Island (where the plane, Locke and the Aijira 316 survivors are) in the same time period as the main island?
* Did Lapidus land the plane on the same runway Sawyer and Kate were walking on while they were being held captive on The Hydra island? If so, was that runway built for that express purpose?
* Who else has Abbadon helped “get to where they needed to be”?
* Did Locke hang himself because he gave up or because Richard told him he had to die?
* Why did Ben kill Locke after he mentioned Eloise and Jin when Locke was about to kill himself? Was it because he didn’t need him or was it important that Ben kill Locke himself?
* Does every black character on this show have to die? Rose better make it to the end.

> * How is Locke alive?

dunno.

> * Why did Caesar hide the shotgun?

he realizes that the island is more than a regular "middle of nowhere" Island. also, There's dangerous people runnign around. Sayid is a prisoner, remember? So as far as we know ( as of last nights episode), Caesar might feel unsafe under those conditions.

> * What is it about the specific spot in Tunisia?

he called it "The Exit", whatever that means...

> * So who’s the villain: Benjamin Linus or Charles Widmore
>(Ben definitely added more weights to his side of the scale)?

I DEFINITELY think Ben is a Liar. But I still don't trust Widmore. Thus far, Ben is fair when he's getting what he wants/needs.

> * If Widmore remembered meeting John back in 1954 and sent
>Locke on the walkabout via Matthew Abaddon, how much does
>Widmore have to do with Ocenanic 815 crashing?

everything. But we already knew that. Widmore paid to stage a fake plane crash, so I'm pretty sure he knew the fate of 815.

> * How did Ben dupe Widmore into moving and being exiled
>from the island?

dunno.

> * If “The Others” protected the island for 30 years before
>he was exiled, a) protecting it from whom? and b) who was on
>the island before them?

Maybe those 4 toed people? lol...

> * What’s the deal with Caesar? What is he looking for?
>What is he really doing on the island?

I think he's a military man. Or if nothing else, probably a scout for somebody like Widmore.

> * What’s Ilana’s story? She seems pretty calm for someone
>who a) crashed on a plane and b) lost her prisoner

well, at THIS point she has bigger issues, like "HOW THE FUCK AM I GETTING OFF THIS ISLAND??!??!?" But if you'll recall, most of the 815 survivors were pretty calm too.

> * Which woman went off with Lapidus in the canoe?

It looks like it'll probably be Sun. She the only one of the 06 we haven't seen back on the island yet.

>(Probably Sun but shouldn’t she have flashed off the plane
>like Jack, Kate, Hurley and presumably Sayid?)

we still don't know if they fell out of the plane or what, so it's not safe to assume they "flashed".

> * What is so special about Locke?
I don't know, but he's starting to irk me.

> * Was the moment the Walt dreamt and described to Locke
>(Locke on the island in a suit surrounded by people who want
>to hurt him) the moment on the beach at the beginning of the
>episode or a moment we haven’t seen yet?

probably something we haven't seen.

> * Is the Hydra Island (where the plane, Locke and the
>Aijira 316 survivors are) in the same time period as the main
>island?

well, if them arriving would stop the time flashes, then I think they're in the same time period.

> * Did Lapidus land the plane on the same runway Sawyer and
>Kate were walking on while they were being held captive on The
>Hydra island? If so, was that runway built for that express
>purpose?

I doubt it, because this was a passenger plane, not an island hopper.

> * Who else has Abbadon helped “get to where they needed to
>be”?

Well, he knows Hurley, so it's safe to say he had other shit in the works.

> * Did Locke hang himself because he gave up or because
>Richard told him he had to die?

well he didn't hang himself, but I think it would've been a mixture of both.

> * Why did Ben kill Locke after he mentioned Eloise and Jin
>when Locke was about to kill himself? Was it because he didn’t
>need him or was it important that Ben kill Locke himself?

After Locke played his hand, Ben found out all he needed to know. So he killed him. Also, I think it was part of the plan that Locke really DID have to die, so Ben killed him.

> * Does every black character on this show have to die?
>Rose better make it to the end.

Revelation 9:11 And they had a king over them, the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath name apollyon.

Sounds like the war Widmore says is coming soon to the island is supposed to be a war of Armageddon type thing.

That might be why that church lady Faraday's mom was tolerating Ben (as evidence for her saying "probably" when someone asked if Ben was lying a few episodes back).

Sort of like hinting about the Heavenly Father tolerating the pressence of the evil one until a certain point (satan gets thrown out of Heaven at some point). So Faraday's mom tolerated Ben because she and people like her want the situation to unfold for the war to occur....(?)

Desmond comment (a few shows ago) that the six were being used as pawns (People view Jesus and the evil one working in humans for history to unfold).

I read somewhere that Matthew Abaddon's name was an anagram for "A Bad One".

I'm not sure of the exact phrase, but someting like that.

Same with the name of the Funeral Home ( which was an anagram for "Flash Forward") and the cleaning crew truck Ben had. I forgot what the anagram was...

I don't think all that Biblical stuff really comes into play. Not just yet, anyway...

I think initially he really wanted to save Locke. But once Ben realized that Locke knew about Eloise, he must not have wanted Locke to contact her. Also, since they must get EVERYONE back on the island, the fact that Locke was reluctant to bring Sun back because of his promise to Jin. Ben killed Locke to make sure everyone comes back, including Sun.

you insist that "Lost" is the worst thing in history since Adolf Hitler, (not to mention your scathing criticisms of EVERY single frame of the show with barbs like 'stupid' and 'boring')yet here you are EVERY week following the show just like the rest of us.

and as much as you point out plot flaws and "what if's", I'm beginning to think that deep down you actually like the show (and still find yourself glued to the tube). Just like the rest of us...

There's shows I don't like, so what's my steez? I stay out of posts about them. I try not to criticize the people who DO like 'em. If you like, feel free to invoke your "Guilty Pleasure" rights, and we'll call it even. But coming into the posts week after week to shit on the show is kinda pointless.

the explanation of Locke's death doesn't make sense. I know alot of people on here will say the shark was jumped a long time ago but despite time travel, smoke monsters, teleportation and all the other crazy she we've seen, resurrectng from the dead is about as unbelievable as it gets.

that dead people tend to get embalmed, is any explanation really going to work for you?

Also the term "jumped the shark" has jumped the shark. Now everybody uses it when something happens in a show they liked at one point.

I guess ya'll right though....Locke resurrecting wouldn't be much more ridiculous than alot of other stuff that has happened. Still a great show.

Jumping the Shark used to mean that a show passed it's peak and was doing gimmicky shit in order to drum up ratings.

These days people use it to say that they didn't like how ___ happened.

Fun is the new gritty

Jack's dad -Christian- is missing from his casket, and Jack sees him walking around the island. If Locke getting resurrected is what made it jump the shark, late pass, it jumped the shark in 2004.

There's no, and never has been any evidence he was just ghost. I admit I presumed that at the time, but perhaps not in light of tis Locke stuff?

There is no question that he has done things that aren't possible, like appearing at the bottom of the well, disappearing when jack chased him, pulling a disappearing move with claire etc. Whether or not he is a "ghost" exactly is up to whatever bs the writers pull out, but he's definitely ghost-ly, whereas Locke is not.
