Actually, positive reviews here were why I went to see it in the theater.

He's a writer with a minor in film and a big movie geek, and he loves the "Tang." I remember laughing my ass off for the first 20-30 minutes of the film, then not at all for the rest. But I haven't seen it in years -- since it was originally in theaters, in fact.

How Lance Carruthers went the whole movie with not a single comprehensive line is beyond me. I watched it this afternoon and laffed at Biggie Shorty dancing on the corner

Pootie is the shit...how can you hate a movie wit a dude who fights crime with a belt??? a movie where the main character has a hit song wit NO sound??? a movie where he had a groupie lickin milk from a bowl outside his apartment?? a movie where Pootie's fall from grace came at the hands of a white woman? a movie wit a dude named "dirty d" who literally lived up to his name?

are underrated modern classics, IMO.
My favorite part about PT is the inexcplicable affection he gets from the Southern Sheriff. I love how the guys just goes along with Pootie, no matter what gibbeirsh he speaks.
