Although I have not seen Paul Blart, the wedding

movie made him seem like he owed allegiance to

Sandler, which is a double-edged sword in the

Hollywood scheme of things.

Maybe the financial success of Blart will open

some doors to better on-screen stories.

KOQ was a decent show and his stand up is good. I don't think he chooses great movies, but neither do a lot of stand ups.

comedians usually take whatever jobs they can get. and i'm not in love with his stand-up, but it's pretty good.

I don't like his movies, but he was great on King of Queens and his stand up is pretty good.

Yeah, I don't exactly know where this alleged "hate" came from.

I don't remember anyone here really giving a shit on here about King of Queens one way or the other, which is a far cry from "cats was hating on it"

I seem to recall many a person's opinion here that he was pretty damn funny in Hitch (and in fact I said that his story and interaction with Will Smith were the best things about that film)

Also, there was a grand total of ONE POST about concerns about the talented Kevin James becoming a white coon in Paul Blart. That's it, that's all.

Just because cats ain't going around flying "Kevin James: Comedic Genius!" flags doesn't mean there's vitriol for the dude floating around here or the Internets.

Other than people knocking Paul Blart a little bit, I can't recall a single example of anyone going after him at all.

Paul Blart didn't look interesting to me, but I've enjoyed everything else I've seen him in (mainly KoQ, his standups, and parts of "Chuck and Larry").

i complained earlier that he's not doing the type of movies i want him to do. hitch was horrible and he was mis-cast imo. chuck and larry was a step in the right direction... paul blart was funnier than I thought it would be based on the trailer, but is still a little to silly.

I've read several comments about how Kevin James needs to

stop making movies because he isn't funny enough to carry a movie.

I think this is partly because he doesn't base his comedy around

the easy nut-busters, like pussy, weed, organs etc. He's funny in

a very normal sort of way. He uses facial expressions and physical

stunts to lend humor to the average guy role, similar to Chris Farley

but in a more ordinary manner. I think this type of comedy often

fails to capture the attention of a particular audience that tends

to hate on what they perceive to be "very average and mundane"

acting. Meanwhile, the strength of Kevin's acting ability is simple,

use what you got to get the job done. He does this very well.



As a side note, if you don't hate dude's comedy, then obviously I'm

not talking about you, so please make a nice comment . . .

Guess that's me, although it's not hate, he just fails to amuse me. Can't be any plainer than that.

For me, he doesn't get the job done, because I'm neither laughing or even smiling. Can't see how that makes me a hater given that his "job" is to be funny.

Stand up - pretty good. This is where he's at his best IMO.


King of Queens - pretty dumb. Just another sitcom with a chubby white guy who gets in stupid marital situations with his way-too-hot-for-him wife.
(seriously, did every network sit down and TRY to make a show that fits this criteria? they must have)

Granted I only saw a handful of eps because it seemed trite and dumb, so maybe I caught some lame ones. It's not any better than Raymond, which I also didn't like.


Paul Blart - fuck, this looks terrible. Fat guy jokes and physical humor doesn't amuse me much anymore (though Chris Farley was almost always funny).


Hitch - he wasn't very funny in this, just goofy. Will Smith made it watchable though.


Conclusion: I don't hate him at all, I just don't find him very funny, unless he's doing stand-up.


PS Seth Rogan manages to be funny as shit without relying on his weight/physical humor for his jokes. And he's not even fat anymore, really.
