I think there's way too many lame shows from the 70's on the list. It must've been made by oldheads. Where are the shows from MY youth like Life With Louie and C Bear And Jamal. Anime is fucking horrible, it shouldn't even be on the list. Also, I don't know if any you cats remember this, but there was a show called Extreme Ghostbusters in the late 90's where Egon trains a group of new young kids to catch ghosts. I REALLY loved that show. It had great storylines, excellent writing and dialogue, and really charming characters. It was also one of the last shows to have an outstanding American visual aesthetic, before every show started biting on anime. Did I mention Carlton provides his voice talents? I feel it's a crime that show didn't make the list. I know it wasn't hugely popular but it wasn't THAT obscure. Why is Robot Chicken on the list? Not only is it not animated it's also the most unfunny thing ever. Do you know what Robot Chicken is? It's just action figures talking dirty. It's 800 variations on that. The Flintstones? Fuck outta here. That show was terrible. The Flintstones are like the cartoon equivalent of Billy Crystal. I like the Simpsons but can a show that has been unfunny for half its current run really be the best animated show of all time? I think Batman should've been gotten the top honor but I'll settle for second, I guess.

Not familliar with some on the list. I agree with the Simpsons at one, even though it has lost its swagger i still enjoy and hold it in that spot unquestionably. Considering Clerks is on here i am really upset the Critic didnt get a nod. (Highly Underrated cartoon) that is my only gripe that i can think of.

This list is flawed in general. "The Tick" and "Futurama" are too high (not that it wasn't a good show; they just doesn't have the history/name recognition the other shows that are high on the list do), and full-quality animated shorts from the early 20th century ("Popeye", "Tom & Jerry" are several dozen places below (comparatively speaking) assembly-line Saturday morning shows like "Scooby-Doo, Where are You!" and "The Real Ghostbusters"?

I guess this is what one would expect from a list assembled by IGN though. I should be surprised that "Looney Tunes" even made it to number three.

A lot of the cartoons they got right, but the placement of many are suspect. Not sure I would have Family Guy that high, and definitely nit higher than, say, Futurama or King Of The Hill. Samurai Jack probably could have gone higher, as should Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, but I'm good with The Power Puff Girls being above both in the end. Probably many more, but I have to work, so I have to scan it later.

Gotta give 'em points for The Maxx being in the top 20 even if I disagree with the placement of some others on the list...that series and the comic it was based on were favorites of mine back in the day.

I agree with you about robot chicken, if they were going to do claymation they shoulda put morel orel. Some of these I've never seen, so I can't really comment on them but some of them I personally dislike so they wouldn't be on here (pokemon, scooby doo, rugrats, tom and jerry). I can understand simpsons being #1, but I personally wouldn't put them at #1. Avatar and pink panther should be higher, futurama and Dungeons & Dragons should be lower, some like ghostbusters and powerpuff seem to be appropriately placed.

All in all, not terrible list, but the world of animation is so big it's hard to lists like these. Perhaps it would have been better if they did categories.
