Which you would probably like. It's all about a genre of music I never really cared for and growing up in a state I absolutely despise, but it's incredibly engrossing.
IV is good, just a collection of various things he's written for Spin, Esquire, etc, and a fictional short story.
Haven't read Downtown Owl yet, but I will.

i'll definitely check that out eventually...iono bout next tho.
i remember i used to check for dude all the time when he wrote for spin...so a collection of his past stuff sounds quite intriguing.

espn (the magazine). i was very disappointed to find out he switched over. i thought he left si with such little fan fare it was criminal.
it's true though, he became the writer who is in such a search for that feel good story, he's become a parody of himself. but for many a sports illustrated issue, i would open it up to the back page first. now its not the same.

he mentions quite a few books in this one. it's been a while, i can't remember which ones. i think david eggers' incredible work of staggering genius is one that i got from cocoa puffs. he's obviously a well read man. which makes me think...how does someone who reads so much, watches so much tv and obviously listens to a lot of music...ALSO watch sports?
shit, i'm just trying to find time to post on okaysports and read porn.
yeah it did strike me as funny that he was such a sports fan.

...if you're into long-winded self-important essays abt the "unironic postmodern iconography" of "self-actualized" hair metal tribute bands from duluth
seriously tho, i enjoyed the book but chuck's kind of a douchebag. funny guy tho.
