It started out with "The Wire"...which had me completely and totally caught up UNTIL the last season. Felt like it jumped the shark a bit....but still dope.
Next, I went with "Pushing Daisies"...and that was amusing if a little formulaic and cheesy.
I then found "House MD"...which quickly became one of my favorite shows. Wisecracking...inside jokes...intelligent humor...and let's not forget the eye candy and cameos. Really dug this.
Now...I'm looking for a new series to watch in full.
The Mrs. recommends "Scrubs"...and I've enjoyed the few episodes I've seen...but its a little too slapstick for my tastes. It's currently the top option now, however.
I absolutely hate "Friends"
I had no interest in "The Larry David Show" or whatever you call it.
Shows like "Law and Order" and "CSI" bore the mess out of me. I think I watched "ER" once or twice....decent but not really my thing.
I saw this ad for "Brotherhood" that was intriguing....
I've thought about "The Sorpranos" because I never watched the 1st few seasons...but they recapped well and I was on board for most of the final two seasons....
Hell...maybe its time to get my "All in the Family" on?
I'd prefer something new though....so please...recommend away.
P.S. - If I don't get a decent suggestion...It's looking like "Naruto" or "Robotech" will be my backup plan.

I have an Apple TV and I collect shows, so you came to the right place.
The Wire is my favorite show ever, with Six Feet Under and the Sopranos fighting for second. Six Feet Under wins though for its consistency throughout the series.
The second tier of HBO shows include Rome, Big Love, even Oz - even though Oz jumped the shark after a few seasons, it was still a great show.
Don't sleep on Dexter either - thats a damn good show. Isn't quite up there with top tier HBO shows (its on Showtime) but its still a must-see every week for me.
Speaking of Showtime, Weeds is pretty good as well.
And if you can find it (and feel like reading subtitles) check out Epitafios. Its only one season, put out by like HBO Argentina or some shit, but its incredible.
Scrubs is good, but you dont want to sit through 11 seasons. Thats more of a "let me catch it when its on comedy central randomly" show.
Arrested Development is great, highly recommended if you've never seen it.
That's all I can think of off the top, if I think of anythign else i'll come back.

fantastic. can't suggest it enough. in fact, call me after you watch the series finale. simply amazing. i almost wish I could go through it all over again. I miss the fishers.
Weeds is ok.
arrested development seasons 1 & 2 are amazing. I think i'm gonna watch them again this weekend.

I wouldn't say Epitafios was the worst thing OKP ever did to me, lol, not by a long shot. And it's okay that KS & I disagree now & then, all friends do.
But yeah, I pretty much hated it. She and at least one other person here really loved it.

Currently, Dexter and Weeds are the only shows I can recommend, and Weeds last 2 seasons are not nearly as good as the first 2. I liked Prison Break's first 2 seasons and quit watching. House got old for me after the second season also.
I said in the overlooked post, but 3rd Rock From the Sun is pretty damn good, but I haven't seen near all of them yet. I'd recommend off what I have seen tho.

and I think for everyone who sees it there's a moment in time when you hate EVERYONE on the show and you want them ALL to die and get their damn come uppance, because they all get so fucking IRRITATING at some point. Someone on here said that was because they're like your family after a while and your family drives you crazy, too.
But it redeems itself with the best series finale EVAR.

As something to balance out MI-5. I like both shows a lot. A whole lot. They're not like The Wire, in the respect that the shows stand alone, and I got really spoiled by the serial nature of The Wire.
But I don't think either one is stupid, really. And that says a lot, when you're talking TV.

i haven't watched it in abt 5 yrs, but it was must-see for a minute. thru s5 or 6 maybe.
i'd also recommend the first 4 seasons of "the west wing"

definitely still worth watching once. season 1 takes a minute to catch its stride but everything from the "college" episode on is brilliant. ditto w/ s2 + s3. really dope stuff.
"homicide: life on the street" is always a good option for wire aficionados. peep that just for andre braugher's work alone.

I don't see this dude's appeal. the minute they said he was the guy behind most of the "Friends" shit...I was instantly turned off. I similarly couldn't stand the Gary Shandling show...not my style of comedy.

timewise and emotionally. it's also a lot slower paced than some of these other shows. i still think the shield and dexter are great ways to follow up the wire.
