I don't think it's as big as Harry Potter but its a HUGE book franchise and 'tweens and some goth fans can't wait for the book to come out.
It supposedly breaking records for pre-sale tickets so it might actually be closer to Harry Potter than High School Musical but it's one of those phenomenons that will be absolutely huge yet manage to miss 50% of the population and 90% of people over 21.

i remember the trailer coming on before a movie and i laughed out loud at the shit and told my friend "this movie looks horrrible. it looks like "The Covenants" retarded sequel."
then it ended and it revealed that it was "Twilight" and i just started at the confused, baffled as to how anyone could be excited about this poor looking/acted movie.
