Yeah, I know, Michael and Dwight are caricatures, but I'm sorry, that shit was hilarious... because you not only are laughing at the ridiculousness of Dwight, but you also learn new, and definitely odd, character information about him... I thought that was cool...
And once again, the only nauseating storyline for me was... you guessed it, "America's Favorite Couple" (™ NBC), Jim and Pam (sorry, Longo)... I mean, like, take the laundromat scene, for example. Is there a legitimate reason why Pam couldn't take her ass outside if the cell phone reception was so bad? The only reason she was kept inside was to emphasize "the space between" her and Jim. That was some contrived bullshit, imo, and bored me greatly...
But everything else was fine. Stanley checking himself out as he compared his health to that of a pregnant woman was a nice bit... Michael talking about "golden showers" was, yes, funny (though it might have been funnier had he caught himself saying it)... Michael going through with the baby shower even though the baby was there was funny... I also laffed at "Lion King!"... and Dwight's road testing of the stroller was very funny as well*... and Michael asking Darryl for advice was funny...
Now, I'm not so sure that I liked having Michael tell Holly that he was going to be mean to her in Jan's presence... I thought that was a bit mean-spirited and unnecessary, even if they bought it back with the heartfelt Michael-Holly hug at the end of the episode...
I also didn't need to hear Jan singing... now, I know that Melora Hardin has been putting out CDs of her singing (I remember seeing her do an acoustic set on KTLA last year), but we didn't need to necessarily see and hear her do it on the show... it's almost like Melora's people had a clause put in her contract that she'd return only if she got to showcase some of her singing talent... at least there was no NBC promo at the end of the night directing viewers to her website or something...
But despite these issues, I thought it was a pretty good episode overall... not as good as last week's, but still good enough
*I also will cop to the notion that Dwight's stroller testing might have been too over-the-top, and I didn't like the payoff to that story... ________________________________________________________________________ <------ Yeah... not gonna happen.
