"Name an overlooked movie since '00 you want people to see"

basically, the movie you thought was great, amazing, etc. but not many people saw it due to limited release or whatever. I say 2000 just so we dont name every movie under the sun. tell us why you love it & why we should watch it.

For me, "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints". Shia LeBouf shows serious acting chops for the first time imo in a drama and Channing Tatum gives his best performance in his career and shows he shouldn't be in shitty "Step Up" movies and should be doing serious roles. first time i saw Melonie Diaz (caught her in Be Kind Rewind recently)and she's great in her part and looking good. Chazz Palminteri is amazing as Shia's dad as well.

Downey Jr. & Rosario Dawson do well in their small roles and the story is just amazing cause its a true life story told in an unconventional way. i talk about the actors alot cause its a movies focused on its characters. One of the best since '00.

http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Golden_Door/70067846?lnkctr=srchrd-sr&strkid=2064218889_0_0

A story set in the early 1900s of a man and his family leaving Sicily for America. We see some Sicilian cultural details (Scorsese's DVD intro talks about it better than I ever could). We see the process of immigration before leaving for America, the voyage, and arrival. In regards to the Ellis Island sequence, the director did research and took info from letters and journals. Anyone who found The Godfather Part 2's Ellis Island sequences interesting would definitely love this movie.

It was shot and lensed by one of the greatest cinematographers alive Agnes Godard. There are instances of impressionistic flourishes and imagined/fantasy sequences. Easily contains some of the most memorable images since 2000 and one of the most moving, visceral scenes of characters singing and playing music I've seen. Stellar cast and performances. Well-written. Empathetic characters. Lots of heart. Very funny at times.

See it.

Director: Gavin Hood

This Oscar-winning Best Foreign Language film shows that no soul is too far gone from being reformed. After shooting a woman and driving off in her car, Tsotsi (Presley Chweneyagae), a ruthless thug, is surprised to discover he isn't alone, kept company by a crying infant in the backseat. He grudgingly takes the child home, and through his efforts to care for the tyke, Tsotsi slowly rediscovers his compassion, self-respect and capacity to love.

Cliche and directed by a white lawyer and failed actor looking to bolster his liberal virtue points and make his mark in Hollywood with a weak City of God knock off. Too bad it worked.

Directed by Bill Paxton, probably the best horror film to come along since the original Nightmare on Elm Street. Great performance by Paxton, good story and not over-reliant on cheap tricks.

I know it's not a straight horror film like Scream, a good comparison would be Rosemary's Baby. Not horror, but more of a horror-suspense-scary-type flick.

Shouldda been a blockbuster. But it's imho where Robert Downey Jr properly started his post drug era, and it's a great mix of R rated violence & comedy. Plus, the snark it throws towards LA and movie's in general seems just like one big in joke.

Just a very well made movie.

Some really great performances, delivering on very solid material. This came out stateside right after Audrey Tatou hit big with Amelie, and before Chiewtel Ejioforioaeradfhjdf became everyone's new favorite actor. I don't think there's any American actors in it, which actually makes it more refreshing. The story, which I'm not really gonna go into here, is one you don't see often on American screens. But it's really great.
Oh and the Black English chic - yeah, that's my wife.

I think a lot of people will be revisiting this when Pineapple Express finally comes out.

I still haven't seen a film quite like it.
