But that might be because I saw it in the movie theater. That's where I officially went from thinking it was "kiddie shit" to becoming a stan. I've seen every Pixar movie in the theaters since.

I agree that Cars and Bug's Life are probably in the bottom. After that it gets really difficult.
There are a lot of things that I really love about Toy Story 2 but it just doesn't feel as good as Toy Story to me.
Monster's Inc holds a special place in my heart because of all the 'boo' and 'kitty' stuff. It's a pretty ingenious plot to boot (like most of Pixar's films).
Finding Nemo may be their best film but I really love the Brad Bird films. I wonder if we give The Incredibles so much love because the voice casting was utterly brilliant in so many ways, the style of animation was spot on for what they were doing, and it's about a family/community of super heroes. The plot almost feels a little too obvious, but then you think "they're superheroes who are essentially in witness protection" what's not to love?
I need to see Ratatouille a few more times to see how it holds up. But there's a lot that endears me to that film.

"The Incredibles" is just a fun movie. I can watch it repeatedly and not get bored - they just trimmed all the fat on that movie. it's seriously a master's class on tight script writing.
"Ratatouille" doesn't offer the same shot of adrenaline, but, again, the script is SO FRIGGIN' GOOD. The scene where Anton Ego first tastes the Ratatouille is one of my favorite scenes in movie history (yeah, i said it). It just hits me right between the eyes every time - it gives me chills with how spot-on that scene is executed. I love the monologue on critics at the end, too.
and Michael Giacchino's work on both soundtracks is just NASTY.

It's fun, it's funny, and infinitely re-watchable. Just about perfect in every imaginable way. Agree with the above comments about the fat trimming. There isn't an ounce of flab in the story. Which is good when you're dealing with that much spandex.
Finding Nemo might be runner-up, I dunno. If it weren't for my affinity for tights I could almost see this being #1. It's funny, it's heartfelt, it's gorgeous. I mean... Pixar took it under water...the visuals alone, sweet lord.
And I actually don't have much of a beef with lumping the 2 Toy Story's together. They're about on equal levels of greatness for me personally.
That makes up the varsity squad of Pixar films for me. I don't know what major character flaw has kept me from seeing Ratatoullie. I should probably have my assed kick for that.
As for the B-Team:
A Bug's Life gets unfairly hated upon!! The plot is tried and true, some might say cliche, but its the characters and humor that drive the film. Good stuff.
Monsters Inc I only saw once and fell asleep on more than one occasion. I do not suffer from narcolepsy so far as I know so this leads me to conclude that I didn't like it too much. Love the concept of it though so maybe it deserves a second look sometime.
Cars... fucking Cars man. Worst Pixar film ever. Fantastic visuals of course, and it's saying something that I didn't completely hate Larry the Cable Guy's character. But yeah, this lacks that special spark that all the other ones have.

Seriously, though, I've found in my stupid old age that nighttime movie viewing doesn't cut if for a lot of movies. Now it's like Saturday morning/afternoon is the best time if I really want to get anything out of certain movies--especially ones that rely on charm. Anyway, I loved Monsters Inc.

I'm more alert watching a movie in the evening time. Friday night, a large coke (maybe an extra large for only 25 cents more depending on how persuasive the snack bar guy's pitch is) and I'm good to go. My brain is in movie watching mode.
Worst place for me to be on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon is in a dark movie theater. My brain isn't trying to hear/see all that. It's naptime.
Monsters will always stand out in my mind as the very first time I dozed off in a movie theater. That's just such a Dad thing to do isn't it? And I was only 21, man! Ah well. Sunrise, sunset.

yeah, The Incredibles and Ratatouille are very good, but for sheer entertainment factor alone, I gotta go with Finding Nemo. Dory has to be the funniest Pixar character ever. The Incredibles and Ratatouille seem to be more adult animated films, even though they have a G/PG rating, and lack the fun and humor that the earlier Pixar films had. I think that's why PTP loves those two the most, and hates Cars so much, since Cars was clearly a step back for Pixar making a movie for kids again. I like my animation fun and silly, and Finding Nemo is probably the best at that....

it was geared as a more cutesy movie for kids....
yet was paced for adults.
I believe Cars is the ONE time Pixar stumbled, albeit a TINY bit.
It's still enjoyable, but for such a cutesy movie, I couldn't even keep my attention focused when Lightening and Ms. Sally were going to whimsical drives and picking eachothers brains with HWY 66 history lessons, and "character development".
It wasn't bad...it just went from a kid-geared movie to the Bridges of Madison County in the middle, then to the finale.

I'm a fan of ALL of the Pixar movies so far. but there's something about the quality of Brad Bird's direction that put's those two movies above the others, and that's saying a lot.
I voted for Ratatouille, with The Incredibles a close second. After those two masterpieces I would have to go with Toy Story 2 (best opening ever), which I enjoyed MORE than the original, which is rare for me as I find most sequels lacking.
Yeah, but there's something about the way that Brad Bird crafts a film that I really dig. I know "The Iron Giant" wasn't Pixar, but I put that up there with some of the best animation/films I've seen IMO.

I remember teh first time I saw that. I was dying laughing at it. My parents LOVED that episode. For years he waited for it to come out on Laserdisc (yeah, it's that old, and he went that hard to get it).My mom made him copy it on VHS so she could show it to kids when she had to sub at school.

he wanted to do it as a series of theatrical shorts to play before Warner Bros. Movies but got hooked up with Spielberg, who asked him to expand it to 20 minutes for "Amazing Stories"
