I fully expect it to be a rolling turd, spitting on the grave of yet another of my childhood memories. But for all it's many transgressions, I feel compelled to watch it. It's Knight Rider, after all. It has to be better than Knight Rider 2000 and Viper, right?

I never missed an episode. even got all teary eyed every season cliffhanger when KITT got smashed. Yes it was corny, and by the last season a parody of itself (if that was even possible), but it still holds a special place in my childhood. The misses even bought me the Season 1 on DVD just to relive the horror.

Season 1 and 2 were the best ones of the series ITDO (though the KARR scanning noise of that time unnerves The Doc still...that was the epitome of cheese -- also Optimus Prime as an evil car just ain't right).
and you're right... by the last season w/Super Pursuit Mode, RC3 and allat... it was self-parody.

Arnett has been doing voice work for General Motors and after finding out the KITT was a Ford Mustang, they told him he couldn't be a part of the series.
I'm not sure what it says about Val Kilmer's career that he's now plan B behind Will Arnett.
From Variety: A carmaker conflict has caused NBC to hire Val Kilmer to replace Will Arnett as the voice of KITT on its "Knight Rider" revival, reports Variety.
Arnett ("Arrested Development") had already completed his part for the pilot, which is slated to debut on NBC on Sunday, February 17 at 9/8c. Producers Doug Liman, Dave Bartis and Dave Andron -- along with the network and studio -- were all fine with his performance.
For the better part of a decade, however, Arnett has done voice-over work for General Motors -- as the voice of GMC Trucks. NBC's new "Knight," however, is "played" by a Ford Mustang.
Not surprisingly, when GM found out about the Ford connection, it asked Arnett to pull out.
"I was very excited at the prospect of playing the part of KITT in the new 'Knight Rider' movie," Arnett said. "However, because of a long relationship with General Motors as the voice of GMC Trucks, I had to respectfully withdraw from the project."

So this is actually a sequel, lead actor is Knight's son and the Hoff is going to make a guest appearance. I'm checking for this. Hope they aint bastardize the theme music too much, and I think Busta and Timbo's covers were kind of weak. Don't even remember the names of those songs, lol They both had videos for them didn't they?
I had no clue it was on tonight. I just happened to sit down and there it was.
I'm not sure what part was better...KITT asking Mike if he was a homosexual and then showing pics of the gay pride flag or when Mike dropped the chip on the floor and KITT showed a picture of Iron Eyes Cody.
This new version is awful. Its not even good enough to watch for a laugh.

Hmm, I loved the original series as a 6 year old... but I know for a damn fact that if I went back and watched some of those old episodes they would be pure cheese.
The new one was bad, but I can't hate on how they paid respect to the original series and even had the Hoff make a cameo. Will I watch the series on a regular basis? Hell naw, but it was cool wasting two hours of my life on it...
