No ass is worth that.

Besides, any female worth dating should know that you don't drag a dude to a two hour and 20 minute adaptation of a TV show where you've got 40-year-old skanks talking like a bunch of gay men.

At least shit like "Wanted" and "Mummy 3" keeps moving. And can be fun and enjoyable for people of any gender. It is physically impossible for anyone with a Y-chromosome to find those vaguely enjoyable.

All I'm going to say is that if you get dragged to this flick, she "owes" you A LOT more than just seeing some dumb summer action flicks.

I got duped into going... not only with my girlfriend... but with 3 of her female friends as well.

It would be less gay if I was on the business end of a glory hole in the movie theater men's room.

You down for a combined Longo-tappenzee review of this one?

Dude, you have to duck out for the bathroom during the previews and watch Iron Man again or something. That movie is also shorter than SITC.

And we're going to see Indiana this week.

She also attends various punk rock shows with me, despite it not being her thing at all.

Last week, she cleaned my bathroom and bedroom while I was at work and she treated me to a pricey dinner.

Also, I snuck in whiskey into the theater and spent the last hour cracking jokes to her the whole time, which she surprisingly laughed at (mostly).

It's one of the things I do for love. It could be much, much worse.

Oh and the movie was awful and felt like about 4 hours (at least while I was sober)

Goodfellas delves into the life of Henry Hill. It begins with his youth, tracks his days as a young wannabe gangster, goes through his glorious rise in the mob ranks alongside Jimmy and Tommy, his prison stint, his family and relationships, his coke binge, and his eventual fall with drug arrest and decision to become an informant.

Sex and the City (likely) will track 4 over-the-hill women who want to be with a man. Explain to me why this concept takes longer than what I just described above.

parts, like charlotte's pregnancy, seemed rushed.

overall i thought it was a cute movie, loved seeing a sista up in there, i thought ALOT of the dialog was corny, and i never noticed that during the show.

steve looked hella old. shocking since none of the ladies looked that much older.

i was really shocked no one died since on david letterman, he let it slip that someone did and SJP looked all shocked like he really fucked up.

some of the dialogue was corny.

I thought it tried to hard to be funny in some parts.

But a good chick flick overall

to anyone who was paying attention to pop culture over the last 10 years

(the bean counters are talking anywhere from a $26-$28 million opening day)

Even though many of us straight dudes (and apparently, Hollywood executives) don't seem to get it, Sex and the City is as much a brand name as The Sopranos or Seinfeld or The Simpsons...

EDIT: To be clear, my subject line was an answer to this question:

I thought only the lesson hated women! I'm amazed that there are so few posts in this thread.. it's not like it's a bridget jones level chick flick.. It really transferred well to the big screen and was so much better than the series finale.

My only quibbles with the film were: jennifer hudson (but she was hardly in it) and you didn't get to see enough of harry/steve/stanford. I don't know whether the rumours about no one liking Kim Catrell and her holding out on the film etc are true or not but without putting any spoilers I think they fucked her over a bit with this film..

I still hate Big. I can't help it.

if you put all four of the lead characters' breasts into one, the finished product would still not equal one of Jennifer Hudson's super breasts.

though it was extremely predictable throughout.

I knew that Big was going to be in the closet when she went to get her never-worn shoes.

I knew that Charlotte's water would break when talking to Big.

I knew that the password for Louise's account was going to be: Love

all too predictable, but I loved it regardless, lol.

I WOULD go see it again.

If you had ever watched the show you pretty much knew what was gonna happen in the movie. But, there was a second there when I thought they would all end up single and together again...well, except Charlotte, but she always wanted to be married.

Did I mention how great Jennifer Hudson's breasts looked?

then I started getting into The Sopranos and Six Feet Under. No joke. And the odd thing is, I was into America Undercover and that autopsy shit before I ever got near the show. I just kept hearing about it, so I watched, and it had a certain air to it.

But, for some reason it just felt off...

The Sopranos and Six Feet Under just felt more real; had more awkward moments, handled them with increasing agility. I felt like Sex & The City was just... stagnant somehow.

I kept waiting for character breakthroughs. I saw few. I think part of me wants to strangle some of the people who are like that, to begin with. It's hard for me not to wonder how someone can allow life to grow so vapid, but that's the poisonous part of America.

You try to get away from something, and by the time you turn around, you're further from everything than you ever thought you were.

I think that's what I dug about the show (the points I made are there, reflected in the subtext and dialogue of the show), but I got the point early and moved toward other knowledge. Other premises, like, how the issue was explored when crime, poverty, and more... earthly issues were combined with it all.

That was the point though, wasn't it? She just got jilted at the altar and basically had to go on the trip because she couldn't get her money back. She essentially went on her honeymoon by herself and she hadn't eaten or slept in a few days. Plus she just got off a flight from New York to Mexico. If she was fully made up, somebody would be complaining about that right now.

BTW, I was a fan of the show and I'm a man. And Jennifer Hudson's cleavage looked incredible.

Im not saying it wasn't realistic nor complaining. I saying it fugged with me since the show was always somewhat jovial in nature. And that it was brave of her to let herslef be seen that way sans makeup etc. So realistic that when she too off dem glasses I almost yelped cause chik was toe-up..understandably. Realistic yes. I understand the plot points and why. I was stating my reaction.

Between boom mics appearing in the shot (on multiple occasions), a storyline that dragged on til forever (it honestly felt like they just mushed 4 or 5 episodes together), and the infinite product placements (more than I've ever seen in any movie... there was a 3-minute montage that literally listed brand names Carrie liked, and that was the only point of the montage)... yeah, I didn't get it. I thought it was sloppily made, filled with mediocre acting and groan-worthy dialogue. Also, the Farrelly Brothers called, and want their pants-shitting jokes, unkempt-pubic-hair jokes, and dog-humping-things jokes back.

But then again, I sympathized with the male characters for most of the film. So I can totally concede it was in no way made for me, wasn't intended for me to review, and I'm sure fans of the series would give it 4 or 5 stars.

Hitch, The Devil Wears Prada, Waiting to Exhale, Love Jones Eve's Bayou, How Stella got her groove back, Damn, i had to go a bit back to name a black glam film, lol.
Glamorous settings, wealth, parties, gorgeous clothes beautiful men and women, romance. Oh my my my the perfect escapist fare.
Sex in the City, the storyline who cares? There is a break-up and at the end of the 2 and a half hours Bradshaw and Boo are back together again. There is a lot of fun in between. I mean I don't have to watch this stuff, i can look in the mirror at any time and see something beautiful, lol. You know the old saying like attracts like.

a co-worker of mine gushes about this movie at least once a month. i finally rented it.

i've never watched the show. the movie didn't make me want to watch the show.

the film was a complete turn off. i don't know what turned me off more: the women in the film, the men in the film, or the relationships that they had.

This is the second worst film i have seen this year but Indian Jones still beats it by a large margin.

In the film of SATC the writing wasn't as smart as the tv series, the sass had gone, the plot was implausible and the male roles were so thin. J Hudson was the bed thing in the movie and she isn't even in the tv series. That is saying something.
