"TERMINATOR: The Sarah Connor Chronicles"

Did anyone check it out last night?

The Pilot was pretty good IMO.

That one robot was on some straight Wile E. Coyote status though. He got fucked up more than any person, place or thing I've seen in a 1 hr episode ever.

I think this will be pretty good. So you know Fox is gonna axe it. But they've been getting better about that lately so, it may have a shot.

I mean are they going to stay in hiding or on the run with a female terminator for three and four seasons? I think not...

Also, I like the fact that this voids out the events of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, which to me wasn't needed....

On The Lookout 4:
some new music. WTF is going on this year?

You basically have to pretend Terminator 3 never was, but thats fine by me considering it sucked ass anyway (except for the hot girl robot).

oh wait because according to T3 there wasn't another attempt to kill John Connor after T2. Idiots. I dug T3 tho, I lowered my expectations.
As for this show, I'm gonna keep watching and see where it goes. I dig Summer Glau too, but typecast much?

I liked some of the changes/updates that were made from the Pilot to the one that aired. Ep 2 opened up a lot of possibilities for this show. Should be interesting to see where they go with the series and the upcoming films...

as i stated in another post, i hate time travel stories, because there's always some time travel plot hole in there.

why is it that in the future when they are sending teminators back in time to kill sarah and john connor that they send them in chronological order? like okay first we'll send one back to 1984 to kill sarah. that didn't work, so next time we'll send one to 1995 (terminator 2) to kill john. that didn't work so let's send one to 1999 (sarah connor chronicles) to kill john.

why don't they just keep on sending teminators back to 1984 to kill sarah?

i'm not even gonna talkabout the issue of john connor sending kyle reese back to protect his mom and that ending up being his dad.

The Terminators probably act on the information they have.

In T1: They probably learned that John Connor was born in 1984 and his mother's name was Sarah. So they probably went to 1984 thinking that's the best place to find him. After that incident, she probably decided to lay low, off the radar.

In T2: With Sarah Connor being all crazy and committing crimes everywhere, her name probably "popped" back up in the information the Terminators had about John Connor. "Hey Sarah Connor's name appears in these police reports from 1994! John must not be too far behind! Let's get him!"

What I'm trying to say is, whenever information about them shows up, they probably act on that information they have. They were probably quite between 1984 and 1991. Just a theory.

Send the T-1000 liquid metal model to the same time they sent the first Terminator.

There's no way Sarah and John could survive the OG Terminator AND the T-1000.

And even if John sends back an OG Terminator reprogrammed to help them, it would be an even match for the "evil" T1 model, leaving Sarah and John to face the T-1000 alone...

It'd take a lot of make-up for Arnold (or maybe age-deying CGI) and some Forrest Gump-ish insertion of characters into scenes, but I think they should make it.

Infinitely better than that T3 ish.

The future was never altered due to fact the terminators went back in time to kill The Connors. John Connor is ultimately killed in the future so there was no reason for the newer T model to go back in time. T3 confirmed that SkyNet was an untraceable data protocol sent through military facilities that set off nuclear warheads across the globe and gave the Machines their own mission (to kill all humans)...
However, this series should show who is John's biological father since it can't be possible for his future self to be responsible for his own existence through conception; meaning Reese can't be his father because he was sent back in time from a future where John Connor already existed...
So since T3 has never happened because of this series, I'm betting that they'll never get around to stopping SkyNet and the show will be pulled from the air after a second season...

I didn't like the pilot too much. But the last two episodes have been good. I like how the Terminator (Summer Glau) is really cold. I know it's a machine is supposed to be cold and unfeeling, but I just expected the network to tone it down and make it "soft". But the way she killed "el rata" and let homegirl fall off the building, gives me hope this show won't be corny.

I noticed that too. She did a good job of impersonating a teenage girl in the first episode, now she.s Lt. Cmdr. Data. It must have been a creative decision the producers made so she can have some kind of arc.

I don't know if I am sold on the actors playing Sarah and John.

She is playing Sarah from the first movie as opposed to Sarah from the 2nd, and John is a dumbed down version of himself from T2.

The creators know what kind of one-trick pony this show could be.

So I think they're working it.

This week's ep where we deal with Kyle's brother?

The future stuff?

Something dreadful happened down in that basement, man.

Something awful.

And I wanna know what that is.

Cameron is goin bad too. I think she realizes that she is expedititing her own destruction helping the Conner's.

I also think Reese is going to end up on the bad side of things as well. I dig the whole trying to fix the future, but the more you try to fix it in the past the more inevitable the future will come to be because the future doesn't happen unless you do what you are doing now.

Shit's getting pretty interesting.

I am admittedly confused about a few things:

In the Pilot, they were in 1999 then leapt to 2007... right?

So, John was born in 1984 (based off the original movie) meaning he is currently 15 yrs old, but living in the year where he would have been 23 yrs old.

So where is the 23 year old John?

He must exist, since the 40 something year old John is in the future fighting robots with is 30 something year old Uncle (Derek Reese a.k.a. David Silver).

Shit's kinda weird. Did Kyle Reese leap from the future back to 1984 and knock up Sara Connor? Someone please explain if you can.

confused about a few things:

>In the Pilot, they were in 1999 then leapt to 2007... right?

>So, John was born in 1984 (based off the original movie)
>meaning he is currently 15 yrs old, but living in the year
>where he would have been 23 yrs old.
>So where is the 23 year old John?

he IS the 23 year old john- there can't be two versions of him floating around; that only happens if he jumps backwards to a previous time. what you are talking about doesn't happen going forward. if he jumps to the time when he is leading the resistance, it would amount to him never leading the resistance, because going forward he eliminates whatever actions lead him to that point.

since judgement day had been postponed, and cameron took them to a spcific time that john ordered, i'm sure they calculated a safe distance for them to lose any risk of messing things up.

>He must exist, since the 40 something year old John is in the
>future fighting robots with is 30 something year old Uncle
>(Derek Reese a.k.a. David Silver).

nope like i said, going forward eliminates that future version. going backwards there can be two, but not forward. if john leaps all the way to 2029 or whatever, the future john ceases to exist as well.

>Shit's kinda weird. Did Kyle Reese leap from the future back
>to 1984 and knock up Sara Connor? Someone please explain if
>you can.

well the writers think this through in my view. kyle was sent back to knock up sarah, but the paradox lies in the fact that john already existed before kyle, so there is no way for kyle to get sarah pregnant without creating a different person entirely, under different circumstances, and inevitably altering much of what would come.

the only other theory to adequately explain this is that this is all somehow predestination- no matter what happens, there is a chosen future that WILL happen no matter what people do to change it.

of course that sort of presents the question of a godhead, the fates, some other being that pulls the strings imo. there is no destiny without something to enforce it, imo.

But if it works like you said then this shit is crazy as hell.

Let's just assume that in 2029 (or whenever the flash forward date was)Kyle Reese is in his late 30s/early 40s. We know that John Connor is 45 yrs old (b/c he was born in 1984). SO, Kyle Reese leapt back in time before HE was born and fathered a child who is older than he is!!!

WTF? that shit's wild.

I think you're right, someone didn't think this through (unless I'm just dead wrong).

that was real good. They better nenew the series. I view it all as no matter how much you try to change the past, the future in inevitable. For example, when Reese said there was an elevator shafter there and there was a Wall. In the future there is no wall. We see why there was no wall, because Reese and Sarah blew it out.

i don't want to spoil shit but they're trying too hard with the redhead.

lets hope they're smarter than i think they are (and i am) and go a good route with it.

edit: this blog (spoiled) is more or less exactly how i feel. atm i care about john, cameron, and ellison. the only thing interesting about sarah these days is as a foil to cameron (and b.a.g. as a foil to john).

Suspenseful chase, good introduction to new characters, good moments for the regular cast.

But I watch this show for the kick-ass women, particularly Sarah. And it seems like she is going to be put in a background role on a show that's named after her. What part of the game is that?

Its also worth noting that Summer Glau was great, finally getting a chance to really act with emotion in the show.

when she was actually confused about who she was, is it genuine. All other times, she's fakin' it.

Fox has picked up "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" for a full season.

The network has ordered nine more episodes of the show's second season from Warner Bros., sources said.

The sci-fi series has garnered a relatively modest rating on Monday nights this fall. Its most recent episode was seen by 5.7 million viewers, earning a 2.3 rating in adults 18-49 and a 6 share, tying NBC's "Chuck" in the 8 p.m. time period.

Fox's overall ratings tend to increase significantly after the first of the year, powered by "American Idol." Network executives may believe the drama's audience will grow once the overall Fox tide rises.

Earlier the network picked up a full-season order of "Fringe" and has "Dollhouse" planned for midseason. Both are sci-fi shows. Since "Dollhouse" is undergoing creative reworking, having fresh episodes of "Terminator" also provides additional insurance should "Dollhouse" be delayed.

The pickup makes "Terminator" the first 13-episode sophomore series this fall to receive a full-season order. Most second-year shows have struggled mightily in the ratings recently, particularly those that were disrupted by the three-month writers' strike, which ended in February. Having concluded its first season in March, "Terminator" was off the air for less time than many other returning shows.
