I just saw this movie for the first time (I know--late pass). I have to say that this is the most unusual American animated film I've seen.
I like the movie but I can't really figure out what this film is speaking on. On one level, it's a tale about being accepted and on another level it could be about...
....I don't know.

it had church innuendo all throughout that thing.
on a side note, did you ever notice how when dreamworks makes an animated movie, the main character has a handicapped? like Nemo with the extra long fin and the itty bitty one. Just a thought.

It's almost parallel to Mantan's last dance in Bamboozled. For a second, I thought that's where they were going even though the religion stuff was kinda obvious.

Dr. George makes weird movies (Thunderdome, Lorenzo's Oil, Babe 2). But kids need a little genuine weirdness in their lives, rather than safe Disney quirkiness.
