"Poll question: What will be the bomb of the summer?"

Ocean's 13 is my top pick but I have a feeling that The Simpsons is going to disappoint a lot of people. I think it will make 80 - 100 million but a lot of people seem to think its going to make 170 - 200.

Poll result (43 votes)
Ocean's 13 (7 votes)Vote
The Simpsons (9 votes)Vote
Live Free or Die Hard (6 votes)Vote
Transformers (15 votes)Vote
Ratatouille (2 votes)Vote

The last one only made 125 million and most people didn't like it. Hell, Clooney and Soderbergh didn't even like it. If people are turned off by 12, it might not get the opening that you need to be successful in a packed summer. Overseas, it will probably make its money back but there's a good shot it doesn't make back its budget domestically (barely made it last time)

i don't know if kids today really know (or care) about the Transformers.
I grew up in the 80's and was all about Transformers...yet, I could care less about this film and don't plan on seeing it, even if it was for free. I think a lot of other people in my demographic have the same feeling.

it will be lucky to make 40 mil.

Women aren't going to be interested. Maybe they can beef up a love story (Shia and the chick) but then the hard core fans will be pissed. Most people who grew up with Transformers might not be all that fired up about a movie and young kids have no idea what Transformers are. Add in the fact that Michael Bay almost has a negative box office value now and you have the making of a bomb.

Add in the fact that this is an absolutely loaded summer and the film could fall through the cracks. Live Free or Die Hard opens the week before, Harry Potter opens the week after. It needs to have a HUGE opening because it will likely drop at least 50% after and then face more and more comp as the summer rolls on.

The FF4 trailers have got me excited for this one. I think it will be a success. I really don't think this one will bomb due to the Silver Surfer element of the movie.

I'm not talking about quality, and I don't think it will be a huge flop, but it's the first Pixar movie that hasn't felt like an event. I think it's success will be on par with other mid-level animated films, like Shark Tale, or something like that. It will do well, but it won't be the juggernaut that Toy Story, The Incredibles, or Cars were.

Cause I predict huge opening numbers for all of these flicks, so to me its all about which one will drop fastest and furthest. Wait, furthest, that can't be right. Oh well.

Anyways,
I think it'll either be Oceans 13 or Transformers, but I have little to nothing to back that up.

The last episode I saw was just awful, with Bart playing baseball, but here and there, they still have quality episodes.

I'll be first in line for the movie though. I'm not expecting an A+, but I hear they're getting the "classic seasons" writers for the flick, so my hopes are a little high.

mostly because the days of straight-up action movies like that are dead. you gotta come with some kind of fresh concept or crazy visual to draw audiences these days. bringing back the same basic cast to stop another generic terrorist intent on blowing something important up isn't enough. it could've also benefited greatly from another major star besides willis. call me crazy, but i don't think the mac vs. pc guy is a big box office draw.

If you try to "wagon it up" with him, you'll be too late

Why?

Cause it's a Youthquake!

And Shia just registered a big fat 9.0 on da scale, bay-bee

Yao Ming?

But seriously, it'll be interesting to see what kind of pull he has to open this flick

And to find out how many people are there because he's starring as opposed to the recognition of the name brand

Shia's a good actor (and there were those of us who noticed this before now)

And Spielberg's high on him, and he's usually right on these things...

how are you gonna make the MOST EXPENSIVE COMEDY EVER and the cast doesn't include will smith, jim carrey, eddie murphy and/or chris tucker?

the complete and utter stupidity of that studio shouldn't be laid at steve carrell's feet. he did a sequel to a jim carrey movie w/o jim carrey. no way was he gonna put up the numbers they needed. i don't give a fuck HOW big "40 y.o. virgin" was.

If that tanks, then he's in trouble. But if that does well, people will forget about Evan. The key is that none of this was his fault. Gigli's failure was blamed on Affleck's overexposure; Fun with Dick and Jane was a problem because of Jim Carrey's demands. Also, he only made 5 million for Evan so it's not like his salary boosted the budget.

Travolta bounced back from Battlefield Earth; people forgot about Pluto Nash after Daddy Day Care.
