"Poll question: Is Rashida Jones Funny?"
Fri Jun-16-23 09:43 PM by Buddy_Gilapagos

I just started binging Angie Tribeca which is damn funny and it's kind of an interesting choice to me cast Rashida Jones as the lead. But it made me think, well she really only does Comedy and she's been in some great comedies, but is she funny.

I think I am having a hard time figuring out whether she is a really good straight man or if she isn't that funny.

What do you think?

Also, name some great straight men in Comedy. Need folks to compare her to.

Poll result (19 votes)
Yes, she is ha ha funny (4 votes)Vote
Kinda, she is a very good straight man (12 votes)Vote
Not funny at all (1 votes)Vote
None of the Above (2 votes)Vote

As so so many actors are. A few people can elevate material regardless of what's in front of them. She's good, she's just not one of those people. No shame in that.

I was like "Nah. Good straight man, though." "I Love You, Man" is one of my favorite movies ever, and I immediately thought of her scenes with P-Rudd "Slappin' de baaassss, mon" and when he came from his man-date with Thomas Lennon.

...pass from me, especially considering how much improv was involved with that show. And even though Rashida usually played the "straight man" on the show, she was definitely funny when she needed to be.

Rashida was supposed to be the straight man to the craziness of Pawnee and it's residents, but she had good moments of being funny. No you couldn't be funny with the cast that show had.
