I have read interviews where he says George is the character on Seinfeld he resembles the most. This one seemed like he was in straight Costanza mode.

...but the last one was painfully unfunny. Someone on twitter said, "It feels like everyone is in on the joke now" and I think that's the biggest issue. It's become too self-aware.

that the scene with Larry and Funkhouser each trying to get the last word/syllable was an all timer. I was literally howling with high pitched laughter when that went down. Such a simple premise done perfectly. I have to imagine the folks involved in that scene broke down into laughter during filming.

For a lot of them, the delivery of lines and pacing of some of the scenes just didn’t feel right. Almost felt like a Curb parody at times. Like when Larry was playing George in season 7 - felt like damn near everybody on the show was doing a forced impression of their character.

It seems to have gone away now and feels more “normal”. Larry has definitely become a bigger asshole and far less subtle about things the last couple seasons. He used to do a slow burn before exploding, now he’s just ready to rant and rave at the drop of a hat. It’s kinda similar to how George Costanza’s character changed by the end of Seinfeld.
