>Son this shit is convoluted that I did not get what was going >on at all. Why did the one faction want to take over? It >seemed like their perfect society was working just fine. > >The direction is hella bland too.
the direction was bland which is odd because Burger is way more competent than that. It was a let down for me with him here...
and it is convoluted unnecessarily so.
> >My brother and I watched this shit on HBO last night and this >shit was so telegraphed we called half the fucking movie about >40 minutes in.
shit was dull. despite game turns by Shailene Woodley (She's growing on me and I have liked her movies choices so far...even that dull ass Greg Araki tripe (Eva Green, Gabourey Sidibe, Christ Meloni, Angela Bassett, Woodley and Thomas Jane can't even elevate a dull ass plot and storyline SMH) that's coming out next year (man, how did Araki FALL OFF after blessing us with the brilliance that is Mysterious Skin? SMH)), Kate Winslet (she needs to play more baddies because she CLEARLY enjoyed the hell out of doing it), Zoe Kravitz (she gets better and better each film) and Ashley Judd (like, for real, can we get Ashley Judd in an action movie? Someone make this a thing because she brought more fiyah at the end of the movie than the leads did through MOST OF IT...) and Maggie Q.
Miles Teller was pointless in the movie (and honestly, I know niggas STAN for him and he was really good in Whiplash, but dude is *NOT* a leading man. Not by ANY stretch of the word).
Mekhi Phifer: damn, everytime I see him in something, I see just how limited he is period.
Jai Courtney: Sheesh....I really want to like him as an actor. But he's SO damn dull and bland...like in a sea of dull ass white male actors, Courtney *STILL* wouldn't even stand out. And once again, wasn't his and Mekhi's characters serving the EXACT same purpose? Why did we need BOTH of them?
> >Speaking of, this movie gets an hour and some change into the >movie before explaining what exactly Divergent is and why >that's a bad thing.
YUP. And that should have been the *FIRST* thing that was explained...
>Also, in just the first 30 minutes, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING >HAPPENS. That shit is the first 15 minutes of any other >movie.
YES...shit was lame as hell.
>I feel as if Veronica Roth, author of the book series, read >The Hunger Games one night and drank a lot of molly water >while "writing this". Not only did this seem like a rip-off, >but it lacked coherence. I don't know how many times my >brother and I asked why this or that was happening or why >certain characters had the motivations they did. > >This movie is strictly for the people who've read the books.
And even then...maybe not because I know people who read the books who were pissed at how convoluted the movie was and how not good it was either...
