i'm talking about what this movie would be. it would suck. hell the expendables pretty much sucks. it's all about explosions and our childhood heroes showing they still got it. it's not a meaningful movie. it's just brawn, guns and explosions. we like it cause we liked them back in the day. the female equivalent of that would be lame cause none of these women were ever captivating as action heroes. none of them ever had that much of a draw or appeal in the genre. none of them really did it all that well...so it would fail. it might draw in some viewers if it's sexed up but that's about it.

don't turn this into some feminist shit...the female expendables would have scandily clad women showing off their bodies and using sex appeal to bring in an audience. just like the male one is about some muscle bound dude fucking shit up all over the place. if it didn't it wouldn't be this. it'd be something else entirely.

Gina Carano to Topline Female EXPENDABLES Movie

Just a short while ago we announced the production of a female version of The Expendables. Now, we have word that up-and-coming action star Gina Carano (Haywire) is set to topline the untitled picture. Carano was briefly mentioned in our fantasy cast for Adi Shankar’s production, which Dutch Southern is writing. The former American Gladiators star certainly has the goods to be the face of the ladies’ version of the franchise, but it would be a missed opportunity not to include some of cinema’s classic action heroines. Hit the jump to see what Shankar had to say about Carano joining the picture.

Variety reports that Shankar is also in talks with several unnamed actresses prominent in the action genre, but is thrilled to have Carano on board, saying:

“I don’t know how I’m supposed to make a movie that is supposed to be the female version of ‘The Expendables’ without Gina Carano in it. It would be like making Twix without caramel or Jamba Juice without jamba.”

Carano is an excellent choice to build the franchise around, but the faces of the male version of The Expendables were the famous action stars we’d grown to know and love. Here’s hoping Shankar is able to round up some good old fashioned 80s, 90s and 00s action talent to go along with the new blood.

Carano can next be seen in The Fast and the Furious 6 (see a set photo with co-star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson here) and is also attached to star in John Stockwell’s Taken-esque action-thriller In the Blood.

EXCLUSIVE: After grossing $563 million worldwide on The Expendables and its recently released sequel, Millennium Films has set Legally Blonde scribes Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith to write ExpendaBelles, the title of the spinoff action film that will show the feminine side of the mercenary business. The intention is to hatch a franchise that will be driven by actresses who’ve logged time in action films over the years, much the same way that The Expendables team is comprised of action film staples. Millennium will finance with Avi Lerner and Mark Gill producing, along with Heidi Jo Markel of Eclectic Pictures and Julie Kroll of Summertime Entertainment. Trevor Short will be executive producer.

The action game hasn’t been as steady for actresses as it has been for their male counterparts, but certainly Angelina Jolie thrives and Underworld‘s Kate Beckinsale, Resident Evil‘s Milla Jovovich, Haywire‘s Gina Carano, and Kill Bill‘s Uma Thurman have done well in the butt-kicking action realm. And there is also Alien‘s Sigourney Weaver, Long Kiss Goodnight‘s Geena Davis, Elektra‘s Jennifer Garner, Crouching Tiger‘s Michelle Yeoh, Red Sonja‘s Brigitte Nielsen, and action genre matriarch Pam Grier. Who am I missing? Millennium is compiling its own list, but doesn’t expect to make offers until the writers deliver the goods. Lutz and Smith are repped by Paradigm and Jaret Entertainment.

So, depending on how good the script is, we'll have a female spinoff. But ExpendaBELLES though? smh
