"Aye, PTP: can yall watch The Roast of Justin Bieber tonight?"
It's on at 10pm on Comedy Central. I'd greatly appreciate it if you could. Plus...you'll get to see The Biebs skewered as well as one of the next great comics, Pete Davidson. Everyone comes with it on this one...hope you guys dig it.
Oh also feel free to watch the red carpet preshow at 930pm.

Burress's sincerity got to me too. The bit where he just kept saying he doesn't like the music. No punchline, that was it. Hilarious. Unexpected.
(Another of the biggest laughs: Chappelle in the crowd responding to Bieber's reference.)
I'm really sick of the roast trend that's been going on for years of making the same tired black and gay jokes. "He's got a huge asshole because men fuck him in it! He's blacker than (insert black thing here)! That woman's such a slut that she's had sex with a lot of black guys!"
Not even saying that subject matter CAN'T be funny... if the joke is executed in a surprising way. It's just hard to be surprising anymore at the roasts. The reason why that Anne Frank joke was so fucking good was because he found an amazing way to use the shocking subject matter instead of just tossing shock out there for the sake of shock.
Good production value though, per usual. The drop-the-Bieber bit at the very beginning was probably the best entrance of any roast.
and i also kinda dug when Kevin hart called out Snoop. It maksed it in jokes very well, but when he hit him with the "nah, man, not all Blacks, just you" it put a serious smile on my face

everyone was funny except shaq and luda. snoop had a joke here or there.
pete davidson was surprisingly funny. didnt know much about him, dude was funny. hannibal and the cosby joke was hilarious. he set it up well. would chappelle have really done the roast if asked? dont know how that would've gone, sure it would've been dope. jeff ross and will farrell obviously killed.

Pete Davidson (SNL comic, whose dad was a NY firefighter who died on 9/11): "Two people from the movie Soul Plane are here, right? Kevin, Snoop, Soul Plane was the worst experience of my life involving a plane."
Jeff Ross: "The only person who has inhaled more smoke than Snoop is Pete Davidson's dad inside the World Trade Center."

Everything from Rivers through Franco was money, with the Seth McFarlin Trilogy standing as the best overall run.
This one missed Schumer and Jesylnick in a bad way. Add them and Gilbert Gottfred and we'd have had a classic.in Chris Klien/Keane Reeves hybrid was bland as hell. That lanky kid with the dad jokes was cool, but I couldn't stop thinking about how much he looks like he was created by the Aeon Flux animators.
Shaq, Snoop, and Luda were blah. Ross killed, Legerro was solis, and Hannibal was on point. Hart was a great Roastmaster, but bwyond that i was pretty underwhelmed. I suppose I just don't give two ducks about Bieber. To be roasted is to be honored, and this kid hasn't earned that particular stripe IMO.

I hear a lot of your criticisms. I don't necessarily agree with some of them - and I feel like this is my favorite roast I've worked on - but it was a big success and it's rad yall watched.

I mean, I'm extra motivated and invested in the success of this one knowing you work on them, but as a fan of the format, the comedians, and most of the roastees of the last decade, it's one of those things I watch each year with a critical eye.
I hope you didn't take offense to my critiques. I figured it was the same as any other post about any other show, albeit with the added element that you did some work on it.

I could only hope to get the same opportunity someday ~~~~ When you are born, you cry, and the world rejoices. Live so that when you die, you rejoice, and the world cries. ~~~~ You cannot hate people for their own good.
