I have made it through 6 songs so far. I am really liking what I am hearing so far.
There is an issue with the math on track 4 "Foreign". Really dope song, where he finds his familiar pocket. But he is having a conversation with his grandfather. Ummmmmm............. He is 60 this year.
Hard needle scratch sound for track 6 "Come On Let's Go". I will be skipping this one in the future.

i like the production, even like the house songs (cuz i personally LOVE a project that's sonically diverse).
while i agree it's a quick, breezy listen, i'd rather artists err on the side of less than more. way too many BLOATED projects in the last 20 years, and i sort of expected it to be bloated and boring because he would be trying to make up for lost time by putting too much into it via scraping songs that maybe shoulda been left in the studio. so glad he didn't.
Nas smoked it.
this is REALLY dope to me off the first listen. i'll give this plenty of burn.

For whatever reason, Cuz I'm Here works to me, but Come On Let's Go, doesn't (I can't really nail down why).
But I agree, I'm on my second listen. This joint is dope.
I too appreciate the fact that he didn't rely on a bunch of features to carry the project. Only 1 track over 3 mins, refreshing.

For most legacy artists this would be the best approach. Keep the listener excited and wanting more. It helps that Rick is so talented and still flows so well obviously. A few I wouldn’t listen to much but Landlord, Documents and So You’re Having My Baby are the standouts for me so far. Overall a fun project with the legend showing his class.

To me it sounds like Mos Def - Auditorium vibes plus a couple of house tracks. Kind of a good mix of what Rick likes to do. Can't wait to listen to it again.

I don’t know about next week though. Some were saying Ghostface is supposed to drop next week, but I don’t see anything on Mass Appeal’s social media about that, so I’m not sure where that was coming from or if it’s accurate.

this dude just gave a masterclass in not only rapping and subject matter, but how to let your charisma do the talking without it sounding like a put-on. he's off the charts with that shit

It's great, but wish it would have linked in even a basic way to the song's theme... He even boasts about their storytelling status --- cool, so tell a story, lol...

Rick is a storyteller, fam. Give him creative license
Also if his grandpa was a teenage father and his dad was a teenage father, his grandpa could be in his 90s which makes him being alive very plausible

it's like Jay saying that Nas had one hot album every ten years on average, or Common saying "You aint' made shit dope since Amerikkka's Most." Some creative freedom has to be given in a diss song, even if it's not entirely true.

Detroit is the birthplace of techno… the idiot dissed his own city and black music. If he knew anything about techno, I doubt he would of made that line

when house music waned in popularity here, it was still going strong in the UK and had a large influence on the culture there. Slick Rick has been doing UK tours since he got out of jail, him having hip hop house records on his album is something I wished he'd done earlier, to be honest. I'll split the difference with you though, anybody that thinks house is something invented in the UK is dead wrong out the gate.
