Wife and I had just spent two weeks in Italy (Rome and the Amalfi Coast) and I had booked a nite at a hotel in a small town near the airport in Rome the nite before we were to fly back to the states. We meandered around that little town all day and nite, making stops and getting drinks and snacks at every cafe we came upon. This town was awesome, very authentic, down to earth, nondescript, picturesque. No one spoke English, seemed strangely non-tourist considering it was right near the airport.
Every place we stopped seemed to have a dope playlist tailored for me lol. I remember Erykah/3 Stacks "Hello" playing at one place, a lesser-known Busta Rhymes song at another, etc.
At one point we came upon a place that sounded like they were having a beach party so we dropped in. It was a beach and pool party, and as we sat down this song was on. I recognized the sample from The Chronic so I was like, shit who/what is this ? Someone at a table next to us heard me and said Ro James (before I could Shazam it).
Anyway everytime I've heard this song since, it's brought me right back to that day - one of the most peaceful and beautiful days I can remember in my entire life.
Whew - thanks for taking that trip down memory lane w/me lol.

The beautiful power of music to transport us...cool share. On a similar note, once was in the Netherlands traveling via the train system there sitting across from a young cat rocking classic Redman in his headphones-very loud, cause obviously I could here it. Now this was like 2018, and dude had to be under 21...same trip, walking through the city, I heard Badu music coming from a small pub. Point is, and after talking to some of the locals, there is a reverence in Europe for legacy artists in the genre of Hip Hop and Soul...vibes...
And yea, that's exactly what this day felt like - it felt like Europe was on exactly the vibe/tip I was on since the early 2000s or whenever.
Anyway, you said it. Music is just so powerful. Meant to say exactly that to wrap up my original post but apparently I didn't have to - we all get it around here.
