"Big K.R.I.T. appreciation post "

Been relistening to a lot of his music lately.

Call them mixtapes if you want, but KRIT Wuz Here, Returnof4eva, and 4EvaNaDay were really full length albums with all original beats. They were “mixtapes” because of the samples, and they are 3 of the best projects released since 2010.

He made one of the best double albums of all time in “4Eva Is a Mighty Long Time”.

Cadillactica was really good. Digital Roses Don’t Die was a left turn and may not be for everybody but the quality of the music is high.

His other ones all have their moments. King Remembered in Time and It’s Better This Way were nice.

Top notch producer and strong lyricist and storyteller who can make any type of song and he does it all with SOUL.

To me, he’s made better music than early Kanye if a “producer on the mic” comparison needs to be made, and he’s got a better catalogue than his peers (in terms of era and age) Kendrick, Cole, and Drake.

He’s consistent without making the same album every time, and is well rounded in content and sound. One of the all time greats IMO.

a series of 2-3 song releases that were eventually packaged together as one release. A few of the songs ended up being on “KRIT Iz Here”, which I mostly liked. But TDT had a few of my favorites.

>He made one of the best double albums of all time in “4Eva

A double-album that wasn't just an extra long collection of tracks with no actual need to be a double-album. KRIT put together 2 discs that each flow like their own album but have a purpose to be packaged together. I had kind of checked out of KRIT for a few years after not being into his official "albums" (I *LOVED* his first three projects and like you consider them albums but those early 2010s were a weird time where people were dropping free albums and calling them mixtapes cause they weren't for sale) but a track from 4isMLT came up on shuffle and made me check out the whole album and I was blown away. It's among my favorite rap albums of the decade.

I asked her what it was and downloaded "KRIT Wuz Here" ASAP. I haven't enjoyed every single thing he's done since then but he has been a favorite.

I got to see him at one of the early A3C festivals when it was still possible to get in the crowd with all of us and jump around.

"Make It Easy" and "Pick Yourself Up" are my most recent faves of his.

Glad that I kept these albums on my phone, because this one didn’t even make the Spotify cut when he slightly remade the songs that had sample issues.

This one never gets old to me. So much replay value.

Post 2000, LB and KRIT are easily my 2 favorite musical acts, period.

Been fortunate enough to go to LB shows a few times, but have never seen KRIT, so I’m extra excited to make it to this one. Honestly, I couldn’t draw up a concert in 2023 that I’d rather go to than this.

Anyone else going?

Some songs are missing and most of the rest had to be altered a bit.

I appreciate the effort and getting those on streaming, but it’s not the same - thankfully I’ve got all the originals on my phone still.

I've been checking for his stuff for about 10 years. FIRE FIRE FIRE. King Remembered in Time stays is heavy rotation for me until this day.

My Trunk and How U Luv That are fucking JAMS. I Got This is probably my fav track he's ever put out.

As much praise as I heard for 4eva is a Mighty Long Time it just didn't hit for me. A couple tracks here and there but I was a little underwhelmed.

The project he did with Girl Talk, Wiz, and Smoke DZA though......THAT IS MY SHIT!!!! Full Court Press.

He brings a lot of energy, did some of the songs I was hoping for - opened with “KRIT Here”, and did “Time Machine” - easily one of my favorites from him.

Real cool, humble, and easy going, he was taking pictures with everybody afterwards.

Makes me wonder if that song was about that situation?

4EvaNaDay is one of the best put together and sequenced projects I’ve heard. Returnof4eva and KRIT Wuz Here might both have individual songs that outshine anything on that one, but as an overall project 4EvaNaDay is my favorite.

that song does seem to speak to that story.

I'm partial to 4eva Is A Mighty Long Time on how the tracks flow together.
