The no drum-lazy flow shit is played bruh and was played after Reloaded.
You know what’s super cool, when Roc says an ill line and then punches himself in the adlib saying “woooooow” or something similar like he just blew his own mind with how amazing it was. That’s super dope and original after 12 albums.
Edit: let me add that I actually like Roc but y’all be taking shit too far

Post reloaded it got a bit stale in my opinion, then it picked up pretty recently. I think 2018 he had 'Behold A Dark Horse' and 'Kaos', which were excellent.
They rhymes are pretty consistent, but I would say there are a ton of MC's who are lyrically consistent and the inconsistencies often come in with their ability to make compelling projects.
As far as consistency I would say Westside Gunn is up there. IF you like Westside Gunn(and that's a big IF) I have a hard time thinking of which of his projects you could consider a dud.

Marcberg and Reloaded are a great one-two punch, and both are classics.
Was a big fan of Pimpire and Marci Beacoup.
Rosebudd's Revenge was dope.
Then in 2018, he put out three very good to great projects: Kaos, RR2, and Behold a Dark Horse.
The only albums I'm kind of fuzzy are Marcielago and Mt. Marci. Not to say I don't like them, but they didn't stick with me as well as they should. Regardless, he bounced this year with Elephant Man's Bones, which was a return to form.
Add to that a bunch of great guest verses and the fact that him and Ka essentially birthed a whole scene, and I'll say he's one of the best artists since the 2010s began.
This is the answer to this post. F$#k trying to be hot, switch up styles, get a bunch of "new and hip" guest spots, or trying to falsely reinvent himself to something that he isn't. Masta Ace cuts through all of that bulls$%t with doing concept albums. Albums that are built around real life issues and experiences. He sticks to the theme and holy hell does he accel at being focused and showing skill. He isn't rapping about getting money, cars, or any other false trappings.
He speaks about the plight of a young black boy trying to be a better self with all the dangers of the city around (The Falling Season). He speaks about his own growing up (Son of Yvonne)(RIP DOOM). An inner city dude taking a leap of faith and leaving his comfort zone to better himself (Disposable Arts). Going out on the road with a dude from his hood to tour (A Long Hot Summer), which includes the incredible Soda & Soap (DJ Spinna).
Give Masta Ace his flowers. He is 56 years old and still has me checking for his next release. Dude is an MC and has NEVER let me down.

Moka Only? Dude's made dozens and dozens of albums with quality beats and rhymes that are mostly good to almost great but far from transcendent and basically sound the same.
---- I check for: Serengeti, Zeroh, Open Mike Eagle, Jeremiah Jae, Moka Only.

Hated Marci Beaucoup & Pimpire Strikes Back. Fan of Rosebudd's Revenge. 2 was alright.
KAOS with Muggs sounds like Roc as a pimp in a Saigon club during Vietnam; I like that album a lot.
Behold a Dark Horse might be my favorite project from Roc; it sounds like Roc dropped into Louis' Restaurant then exported to Sicily.
Marcielago is dope. I think it's the best access point for people not familiar with Roc that want to get into his music. I feel like it was Roc's attempt at his idea of mainstream lol.
Mt. Marci was kind of meh; felt like a retread of Marcielago just not as good.
Elephant Man's Bones... It has some good songs but honestly I was disappointed in it only because my expectations were extremely high. I love love love the intro. If it was full of songs at the quality of Rubber Hand Grip, Deja Vu, the title track, Liquid Coke & Horns of Abraxas I would've been ecstatic alas that wasn't the case. Still currently listening to it though hoping more songs click into place for me - which happens.
Still patiently waiting for 2 albums from Stove God: - one produced by Roc - one exec produced by WSG w/ multiple producers (which I think has a strong possibility of happening. New rap radar pod coming soon ft: WSG, Boldy James, Rome Streetz, & Stovie.

Both been in the game longer and neither has ever delivered a dud. Both are good at a 'concept' album or weaving a narrative through the whole album, which is a skill by itself. And both spit BARS. Always have, always will.
Roc is nice, but he doesn't come close to either of their pedigrees.

Legends indeed...never sacrificing the quality to pander to new trend bullshit. As far as Roc, the man has his lane, and does what he does well, even a pioneer some might say. I'm with this thought pattern on him...

I don't feel a need to rank pretty much anything. I've found that it is a great way to leave a conversations feeling like something that is generally 'great stuff' isn't all that great...especially in a universe where people seem to have icewater on tap anytime anyone shows up 'too excited' about damn near anything!
That written, I love Roc. A lot! Rosebudd's Revenge blew my mind and was my true entry into his music and career. I had heard the stuff before that and I understood/appreciated it. But RR is when I was super ready to take what he was giving.
And I see his work as more varied than it gets credit for being. Sure, a lot of the moods are similar but he keeps on finding at least slightly different ways to say 'I'm awesome, my womens is awesome, my raps is awesome, and you? You're obviously less awesome..it must suck for you. But hey, I wasn't always THIS awesome. Yes yawl..I've struggled.'. I love him and have no interest in complaining because he hasn't shown up with a dramatically different thing. I don't need him to make a funk album like Childish Gambino or whatever..
