The video embedded within the tweet includes an Italian 'influencer' stating that Italians deserve respect for their contributions to the culture. He mentioned an Italian graffiti artist and the presence of Italians in NYC street culture.
For the life of me, I can't think of any major Italian influence in hip hop outside of mafioso movies and Do The Right Thing.
Am I ignorant of that community's contributions to the culture?

Vincent Gallo (filmmaker/actor of "Buffalo 66" and "The Brown Bunny") was a co-creator of the show "Graffiti Rock" that had Run DMC battling the Treacherous Three, etc.
For whatever reason, there just hasn't been a rapper or producer of Italian heritage who really made a dent in the culture. But, like you said, Italian popular culture images really saturated the culture for a time.
