I wonder if having his kid with Cleo Sol put an extra battery in his back in terms of added motivation.

I have doubles of every other release on vinyl. But I’ll be passing on this one. Years from now I might look back at this as their “secret life of plants” departure. But for now, it plays better as background music to Braveheart or somethin.

some of these tracks sound like leftovers from something done with Michael Kiwanuka.

Once again seeing that $20.00 shipping charge from their bandcamp site is going to make me wait until Mr. Bongo or some other US based site drops this for domestic shipping. I can't justify paying $20.00 shipping for what is basically an EP. It is interesting the seven tracks are going to be pressed on 2 LPs.

Air is 45 minutes. 5 was 42 and on one single LP.
Both 7 and Nine were about 34 minutes.

Left turn, maybe, but this is great. Reminds me a bit of the longer orchestrated pieces by Donny Hathaway and others in that vein.

Will need to spend some time with it for sure but this is a lot of fun.

but not completely with the execution. at least off of one listen, I feel like the music is missing some *oomph*. I get that it's called 'Air,' but the sound is a bit too thin and light for my tastes. happy to see them explore new territory, tho. and I really like the vocals on June 55.

I wonder how the people who insta-copped this before listening feel.

i feel good about the purchase for two reasons:

1) it's going to be an album i put on when i'm sitting down to read (that's already a ritual i have with some other instrumental albums)

2) i'm really late to the vinyl game and it's nice to have a chance to be a completist from the beginning of a new band's existence (currently doing that with Khruangbin as well). like i know i'm never going to collect all of the albums from well-established artists/bands who are several decades deep. but this is a cool opportunity to do that from the start.

I totally get that. instrumental records are becoming more important to me now for similar reasons.

(sadly, I waited too long to check out Khruangbin; I've already made peace with the fact that some of their earlier stuff is in the "oh well" territory for me.)

Also, buying physical media helps artists like this way more than streaming or downloading it for free.
Like I always see buying vinyl as my way of saying,
"Hey, keep making music."

Seeing as this was an instrumental album and a majority of the tracks sounded the same, this was a bit too short.

Going to be hard for me to justify spending top dollars on this, but I'll replay it this weekend to see if it sticks.

Time is Precious is the standout track to me. I'm on the fence on copping as well.ht I'm sure I'll cave.

Ultimately I feel this is Inflo flexing on the world on some "Look what else I can do and it's dope" bag.

Also I feel these may have been leftovers from Mother that they couldn't make into songs....

... Dope nonetheless.

In addition to selling records, they also repress records on their own.

The main reason I posted up that Sault link is because I got an email about them repressing a special 50 year anniversary edition Arthur Verocai's first album and the Air album happened to be in that email. Mr Bongo also sold all the prior Sault records at domestic shipping rates. If memory serves me correct, I think they sold a colored variant of one of them, but I could be wrong about that.
