"what are people listening to these days?"

i fell out of hip hop for a few years and went on an edm/techno bender. prior to that, i used to listen to little brother/ninth wonder, lupe, common, etc. are there new artists that have carried on the torch?

shifted most of my attention to chicago/detroit/nyc house and techno in the 2010s and was not checking for any new MCs coming in 2010s

Sad to say that Skyzoo is probably the only one that has my interest. I haven’t really liked anybody else

He’s consistently been putting out good-great albums with high level rapping for over a decade now.

He’s got that Common/Pos thing where you’ll catch something down the road after many listens.

I've been on a gospel discovery thing lately. The Newest Koryn Hawthorne and Anita Wilson albums have been on repeat.

The new Planet Asia(with Evidence on production) is fire. He has a song call 1984 that is an awesome DOOM tribute.

Haven't listened to much new Hip Hop lately, but Sa-Roc is probably top of the list of the stuff I've listened to that fits your criteria here. The woman has skills.

Also should be pointed out that Little Brother made a great album 2 years ago, 9th has his own label and has a team of great producers (Rapsody’s Laila’s Wisdom album was great), and Lupe made some really good albums not too long ago.(5-6 years?)
